EOS M3 Body Only?

Has not surfaced yet.

Comparing prices for body only options just released ($/£/€)

5DS R 3899/3199/4249
5DS 3699/2999/3999
T6s 849/ 649/ 859
T6i 749/ 599/ 799
M3 kit ---/ 599/ 769

Seems like an M3 kit might have been around $729 and body only a hundred or so less, say $599. That's in the ballpark I expected ($499 to $599) for the initial pricing.

In Canada the body only prices are:
T6s C$930 ~US$744
T6i C$850 ~US$680

I wonder why the difference is not C$100, and it is cheaper on a straight exchange rate conversion then US prices?

Just got a call from my local dealer saying that they have received some EOS M3's in stock - two, I believe. I had asked them to notify me when the M3 arrived.

However, these M3's are in kits along with EF-M 18-55mm lenses. I have this lens already and therefore don't want a kit - I just want a body, or if they can offer me a kit with the M3 + EF-M 55-200mm lens (the only EF-M lens I don't have) I'll take that.

Looking around on-line, this doesn't appear to be a unique problem. I can understand the original EOS M only being sold in kit form because the lens mount was a new design and no one had any existing lenses.

But an updated body with the same lens mount only sold in kit form. What is the rationale behind that? What about the users who already have lenses and just want to upgrade their bodies? Why is Canon insisting that they also buy a lens that they have already, or they don't want? If this happened with a new FF or APS-C body, users would be up in arms.

I don't know what Canon is playing at with the EOS M. The system isn't available at all in some geographies and only partially available in other geographies, and now they won't sell a body-only version of the updated M. The marketing of the EOS M has been a complete joke.

The price I was given for the kit was 20,900 Thai Baht. The lens by itself retails for 7,000 Thai Baht - quite a lot for something I don't need or want. I'm just about to go to see the dealer to see if a suitable solution can be found.

I really hope that the EOS M3 will be available as a body only option. I have not seen this option yet though. :(

IF you can, get one of the Japanese deals on ebay where the EVF is included for like $25. You will want it. That being said, the M3 comes with a standard feature where if you press the info button for like two or more seconds, it boost the lcd brightness to full. Press and hold the info button again to return it to your preset brightness level.

But get the EVF edition. Its a great composition tool. You can always sell it later if you don't want it and enjoy seeing your reflection on the LCD screen on bright days.. ;D

Just got my M3 yesterday from Hong Kong. Wow. Really nice camera. It's a bit bigger than my M1 but not much so. Haven't really used it much yet as I'm testing everything out to make sure it passes QA.

I know some people have been having issues with the Tamron 18-200 zoom and looks like they have resolved the M3 issue with a lens fw update.

I was wondering if anyone has used the 18-200 on any of the M models and could give some insight on the IQ it provides. Trying to decide between getting the canon 55-200 or this 18-200.
