Exposure compensation

Hi There, has anyone encountered this problem on a 5Diii and knows of a 'fix', please? When I use AV or TV I cannot apply any exposure compensation using the rear quick control wheel. I can apply Excomp via the Quick control panel but I don't want to be constantly looking at the back of the camera.
This standard feature of applying Excomp works fine on my other 5Ds but not this >:(

What is the position of the Lock Switch? (Just below your quick control wheel).

Thanks guys; yes the lock is in the off position. Just to add more mystery to it, if I register AV in any of the C1, C2 or C3 modes the Exp comp works fine, just as it should do. This is the baffling thing about it that I've just discovered! What do you think?

I have a 7D and I can change exposure comp on that a few seconds after pressing the shutter button halfway down. I can't do it if I wait for more than these seconds.

I think this is correct for "one shot EC' or you can set it internally for all shots. I can check later, but am not at the camera now. Push shutter button half-way, and roll the wheel. Might be top wheel, or rear wheel, I can't remember at the moment. One wheel will change your - AV or TV - the other will change the EC for that individual shot. Once you hit the shutter and capture the image, EC returns to Center. Wish I had my camera here, can tell you for sure - will check it later if no one pops in before tonight.

EC will only work when the metering is active, which is while the shutter button is halfway pressed and a few seconds after.

He's asking about a 5DM3, not a 7D, and as I recall, they are different. I have a 5DM3, but sold my 7D, so can't check the differences. The 7D2 is similar to the 5DM3 ... for what that info's worth. I will check the 5DM3 tonight tho'... and tell for sure.

What does it do when you expect to be able to change EC?

To OP ::

Just looked at the 5DM3 -- when you're in AV or TV and push the shutter button half way and release it or hold it, you can move the EC setting either direction with the rear wheel. If your lock button is engaged, it will not work.

That is standard setting - default from factory. So, either your lock is set, or you changed settings internally in the camera. Otherwise, it works. Unless, your camera is malfunctioning, which is a whole different thing...
