Extended highlights with dual pixel raw

I expect that many software companies will have unique ideas for processing of the data. Who knows, maybe NR improvements, DR improvements, and others that we have not considered. Small companies making plug-ins for LR % PS will come out with all sorts of image tweaks.

If I am reading this correctly, this could be the equivalent to dual ISO
Both the main & aux frames say ISO 100, but that may reflect the cameras setting with the software controlling the aux ISO. Or maybe it's just the physics of the dual pixel design. I just find this really interesting that the exposures are different between the two.

Something simple like the light coming at a different angle will change the exposure that each half of the pixel receives, I would not generalize based on analysis of photos taken by someone else for a different purpose. A controlled test would be needed to confirm the difference, so I'd say that its not confirmed, except for the sample photos he checked which were likely all taken in the same spot with the same lighting.

Technically, exposure is the same, as the scene, shutter speed, and aperture are the same. Numbers are different because the main subframe "pixel" value is the sum of the data numbers from both sub-pixels, thus it is ≈2x compared to data numbers from just one sub-pixel. In a way, you can think of an auxiliary subframe as of taken at half the ISO setting.
