I recently went from the 24-70 mk I to the 24-70 mk II. This means I have to add all new sets of filters (why I chose the 17-40 over the 16-35). In anyevent, I have always used B&W. But I can't find any 82mm GND filters (I saw one from Tiffen, but I prefer to buy a better brand). Any ideas? Thanks...

I'd suggest you plan for a Filter Holder system like LEE / Cokin / Tiffen. A number of companies (Schneider, Singh Ray, etc.) make excellent filters which can be used in the holders.

The biggest benefit of using a holder system is that every time you buy a lens of a different filter thread size, all you need is an adapter and the same filters can be used on all lenses.

Graduated ND filters? Don't get the screw-in ones, you have no flexibility in where the line goes - it's always in the middle, and that's rarely where you want it for composition.

Get a Lee Foundation Kit and 82mm WA adapter ring (or a Cokin Z holder), and some Lee or Singh-Ray 4x6" grads.
