I just got a 5d mark iii offer from canon authorized dealer for 2980, should I jump in or wait for black friday deal?

need your help, thank you

Canon is a Japanese company. I am not sure they understand Thanksgiving and Black Friday, other than sales go up on those days.

I have never seen a Black Friday sale on Canon bodies. I say go for it now, its a good price.

i am not sure, but i think that the maximum amount that you can save is $80 bucks on those coming holidays... what is the point when saving only $80 bucks but taking a risk that you might end up pay couple more hundred dollars more comparing to current offer. i will personally take an offer.

If its a local dealer, go ahead. Right now, the loowest is $2910 from a unauthorized dealer.
Last year, B&H had 10% off cameras and lenses for black friday or cyber Monday. It was just for a few hours. There are always Black Friday sales on cameras, but you are unlikely to save all that much.

Dont think it will get any better than this, at least for sometime. I remember I missed the crazy $2700+ Adorama deal thinking I will get better prices later on (lol, yeah I know - face palm). Price of the 5D3 just went up after that, then Canon enforced the MAP on its product recently as well. Luckily for me, I jumped on the deal by Beach Camera and living happily ever after :P No regrets!

Canon is a global company. They employ marketing experts and advertising agencies around the world -- and in the US.

They understand Thanksgiving and Black Friday and to imply anything else is condescending and ridiculous.

Jump. I've been watching prices for a long time and aside from those ebay deals several weeks ago, that's the best price I've seen. I grabbed mine for $2994 a couple of weeks ago when Amazon and B&H had that brief drop. I think it will be some time before it gets much below $3000 from an authorized dealer.

I agree. That is like saying Jews don't understand Christmas. Just because Americans are so ethnocentric doesn't mean that everyone else is.

Glad someone pointed that out as it was exactly what I was thinking,

As for the OP, you know what you are comfortable spending. As long as you feel it is a good deal and it is what you want then you will be happy. I can't be more precise as I have no idea of the prices in the US.

I'd jump on it. Canon put in MAP pricing the around the first of November, since they are a Canon authorized dealer they are supposed to be listing at $3,499 minus the $200 rebate so it should be $3,299. I wouldn't count on Black Friday sales, Canon usually does rebates instead. The current $200 rebate is set to expire 11-24 I believe.
