I've got:

- 50mm F1.8 Canon
- 18-55mm standard Canon lens
- 100mm Canon IS Macro lens

What are the thread sizes of these lenses?
Where is this documented? (I did a google search but couldn't find the answers - I didn't spend a lot of time searching though)
I recently purchased a macro light that I can use with my macro lens because it doesn't have the right size adapter

Thanks

Omar

It's usually printed somewhere on the lens. For Canon lenses, I think it's usually somewhere on the end around the first element or on the body at that end.

Look for the Greek letter phi (for diameter) followed by the filter size in mm. For example "phi 58mm" indicates the lens uses a 58mm diameter filter.

For as long as I can remember (and that's going back to film cameras), the filter size for any given lens is denoted on the lens barrel (usually the front element) and/or the inside surface of some lens cap. Most retailers (as well as the OEM) will have "specifications" available that will list filter size for a particular lens.

In the attached photo (although the designation is upside down) you can clearly see the filter size indicated by the diameter symbol ( Ø )
