it's probably a good idea to start out with wide FOV. I personally think the Rokinon 14mm 2.8 is really good lens start with. With what you have, it will be difficult for you to get well exposed low noise static star shots .. Play around with both if it's your first time out but... I would go with the 50 atF2.2 though and just go for star trail long exposure(s) and hope to catch some meteors!.. Ideally, more short exposures stacked together is better than one longer one. Star trails or not.... So keep that in mind if you're up for editing later. It's something I'm just getting into myself.... and beware the astro bug bite
