• UPDATE

The forum will be moving to a new domain in the near future (canonrumorsforum.com). I have turned off "read-only", but I will only leave the two forum nodes you see active for the time being.

I don't know at this time how quickly the change will happen, but that will move at a good pace I am sure.

AFAIK, Canon's pricing policy for new lenses is to sell them at a higher price than that of the previous models, so as to protect shops that still have stock and photographers wishing to sell their lenses 2nd hand.

Isn't it the same with camera bodies ?

So far, Canon has introduced new body models at lower prices each version or, in the case of the 1 series, a slightly higher price. I call it the Polaroid Ploy. Sell the camera cheaply and sock it to them on the film. Same for Printers and ink ot toner.

With DSLR's, its sock it to them on lens prices - same basic idea. However, we do have 3rd party lens manufacturers who do put a limit on how high Canon can raise their prices before a mass exodus of buyers hits.
