I saw that and was thinking it might be a general date that they threw out there. Either way, it still might be faster for me through them considering that the general consensus from everyone else who has called B&H is "They got more Pre orders than expected".

I will just cross my fingers, throw some salt over my shoulder and spin around three times and see.

As per the post earlier about crutchfield having them in stock:

I wanted a body only, but seeing as how crutchfield is already out of body-only's, I decided I'll just nab the body+lens combo and sells the lens. It's good price on the lens anyways.

So, I ordered that kit just a few minutes ago 4:00pm ish. I called to confirm that I had a MK III with my name on it, they said yes and that there are even a few more of that kit in stock.

So if anyone is THAT anxious and doesn't mind fronting the extra several hundred dollars, HIT CRUTCHFIELD UP ASAP! Also apparently with their rewards program I'll get a couple hundred bucks worth of crutchfield gift card for this order too. I down!

Oh, and, with overnight shipping, they say my order should arrive Thursday SO excited.

I know that people are starting to get them. We had a demo unit in a studio I was in today and the Canon rep said he would bring in a loaner for the studio to use for a week. They had already ordered a bunch of them so they are just doing this studio a courtesy.

Dealing with Newegg over this preorder has been less than fun. The only reason why I am even ordering through Newegg is the fact I am a preferred customer and I have a 10k credit limit and I am not charge interest for one year. I ordered my camera on the 25th of March. That is only a day or two after they started taking preorders. After the original date passed with no new information I contacted the customer service department and received a generic response. I let it go then the website a day or so later showed that it would have stock on the 5th of April so I waited rather than canceling the order and going with B&H. The 5th came and went and no camera stock, email, or update of any kind from Newegg. I contacted customer support again. What I was told I included into this post:
4/5/12 8:18 AM
Amy: I do apologize for any inconvenience, as far as I know, Newegg employees would also have to place our orders online as we would as a regular customer. According to our records we have not received any of our inventory as of yet. Therefore, I would not be sure how your neighbor was able to obtain the item. Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience, but we I was informed we would not receive the item until mid-month.
Amy: Aside from this issue, was there anything else I can help you with today?
Bryan : No, Thank you for your time. I will double check all the information with Steve and then I will get back to Newegg. If that is true as to stock and not receiving. I am more upset that this information is not indicated on neweggs website then the fact my neighbor received it. The release date should have been changed and indicated on website middle of April.
Bryan: lesson learned, I will just order any camera gear through B&H next time.
Bryan: Thank you for your time have a great day!

I am tired of the poor customer service I am receiving with Newegg. My neighbor received the camera from his son that works at Newegg and they claim to have never received stock. I order thousands of dollars worth of merchandise every year. They might just lose me as a customer. Just because the support and level of communication is no longer a part of the company modus operandi.

I placed my pre-order with Newegg on 3/12. I have yet to receive my camera, and I've been told multiple dates by multiple customer service people. I've also seen the site go from pre-order, to ETA of 4/10, to Out of Stock over the course of a few days.

I placed my pre-order as soon as it was available in Newegg's inventory system, so I'm a little annoyed at this point.

Has anyone actually received a 5D Mark III from Newegg?

I placed my order with Newegg on March 9th. Right at the moment the item was posted. I have not received anything, and I have exactly the same experience as you, guys. What irritates me the most is the fact that Newgg is supposedly the second biggest reseller in the internet after Amazon. Since the camera was released every single web store had them and sold them, but Newegg. I was in NY this last easter weekend and I was able to play with a 5d Mark III they had in display at one of the Best Buys at the 5th Ave, across the Public Library, but it was not available, and I was not able to pay near 300 dollars for the NY taxers (rounds 9%) :-[. Among the zillions of tourists shooting with Canons (mostly Rebels) I was not able to see ANYBODY using a Mark III. The camera was not available in BH, was not available in Adorama... I kept using my 7D... BUt I am right now quite upset with Newegg because until yesterday they had in their site today's date as the ETA of the camera and today it figures as OUT OF STOCK and I have no mail regarding the delivery of the item... :'(

All you guys should also check with your local camera stores. A lot of them have the mkiii in stock now. These big retailers may not, but some mom and pos shops where pre- order is not a big part of their business actually do have someunit.

I only shop at newegg for computer components. They are so big yet they still don't ship items within one business day frequently (unless you pay the $3.99 for 'rush' service) while places like Amazon guarantee shipment/delivery if ordered by a specific time. Newegg is good still, but they really lag behind in terms of customer service and shipping items quickly.

You are right but I don't want to pay huge taxes for a $3,500 camera. >:(

Good point on the tax though!

You are correct! However some of us are not trying to avoid state sales tax. I live in southern California and Newegg charges me tax at 8.25%. I have no issues with them or paying taxes for that matter. The reason I use Newegg for larger purchases is I get to use their money for one year without penalty. As a preferred customer I get one year same as cash. Essentially they let me do with there money the same what the federal government does with mine, reinvest it. I always pay it off prior to the compound or interest hitting the account. Issue at hand is Newegg is deceiving its customer base. By knowingly advertising a false date on the website. I was notified today that it would not be in until the middle of the month (April). This is the second time I have been told this. The first time I was told this was back on the 5th of April. That being said indicated to me they are posting false dates to generate sales and revenue or orders. When locking in a preorder from a customer the individual is more hesitant to purchase it somewhere else. I am done ranting about the lack of communication with Newegg. I wish you all the best and hope your cameras arrive soon.

Finally Newegg posted the 5D Mark III kit configuration and i cancelled my body only pre-order and my camera is on its way. It lasted very shot time on the web site and went almost immediately out of stock.
