In the menu lens aberration correction you can activate the digital lens optimizer. The cam is busy for some seconds to optimize the picture.
Is this mode be worth to be activated when you do not rely on fast shooting? Does it remove an AA filter electronically?

If you shoot RAW and use DPP to post-process, you don't need to activate it in camera. You can shoot at the normal speed with it deactivated, then add the effect later in post. Downside: It takes a LONG time if you have lots of images. But perhaps the time is better spent waiting in post than having to wait during use while action is happening?

I do find that it helps counter the extra softness from the stronger AA filter, but what it can't do is re-create fine details. If applied too strongly (mainly on high ISO images) the image can get a very digital, blotchy look to it. But it can work wonderfully on low ISO images to recover much of that crispness. I've never really used it before, but find it to be almost necessary when working with 5D4 files.

Nothing can "remove an AA filter electronically - once details are gone they are gone.

The nearest to removal of an AA filter is just sharpening the image.

Canon answered my question, I wrote to them 14 days ago, on this topic: They say, it is better to switch this feature on in the camera, than doing this in the software afterwards. Seems, that there is an slight IQ improvement by activating the function in the camera. Then the sensor behavior will be different.
There will be an Winston video (?) coming, also an small pocket guide how to use AF and all the other IQ improvement features. But they do not know whne. Maybe in the middle of 2017
