R1 Overheating issues

I still get the overheating issue in hot weather with precapture turned on and shooting fairly constantly at Water Polo outdoors in direct sun. Yesterday with 34C (93f) I could shoot for two games before the camera shuts down. There are about 45 minutes of game time per game and 9 minutes of rest during each game. The camera will recover in about 10-15 minutes in the shade. I haven't had any issues with precapture turned off. Cooler weather or indoors shooting doesn't seem to be an issue. I haven't upgraded the firmware as I always wait a month or two before updating. Even with this issue, in these conditions, it is still the camera I go to first for Water Polo.

I am curious, are you seeing any image degradation prior to shutdown?

I used mine the other day but the weather wound up being thick clouds and low 70s and all was fine. I believe the weather is supposed to be warmer this weekend where I have another track meet to shoot and will report back on what I find.

I shot the track meet last Saturday and was outside in direct sunlight from 10 am to 6 pm, the weather ranged from 70 in the morning to 86 in the afternoon. I was using precapture most of the day and shot about 15k pictures. I never saw the temperature bar during this event, and was shooting pretty consistently throughout the day. The camera body felt noticeably warm in my hand all afternoon, and I feel like I would have seen the temp bar with the previous firmware. The only thing to report is the camera did lock up one time while shooting but a power cycle with the switch brought it back. The viewfinder was stuck as if it were trying to take a picture and no button presses would do anything to change what I was seeing in it.
