Show your Bird Portraits

Having a large collection of mirror lenses, I have coveted the Minolta 250mm, f/5.6, but couldn't justify the asking price, so when TTArtisans just came out with a similar lens for a reasonable price, I had to give it a try. It is surprisingly good for a mirror and relatively easy to focus (don't miss the relatively part). I have been playing with it this afternoon and it holds up well even with the R7. Images need a shot of mid-band contrast as always with mirrors, but this is only 25 on "texture knob" so pretty mild as mirrors go. Almost 100% crop.

R7 + TTArtisans 250mm f/5.6 Reflex
Lovely hummer! Interesting, what you are doing there with those mirror lenses.

Sipping the sauce (Rufous female) CORRECTION. I think this is an Allen's female. We haven't seen these in the past, but have several this year. Very similar to Rufous except for the green back.

I like them all but if the last one was sharper I would say "a Masterpiece"!!! Still nice!
I Had to lean on Topaz to get that much out of it, but it was too funny to not post. Just wasn't quite in focus and the exposure was weird as well. The R7 with the 200-800 does pretty well, but it can't keep up with hummers moving on the z axis toward or away from the camera. I have an EF 100-400 that is faster, but then I have to be closer and that modifies their behavior. The R5 with the 200-800 is a little faster than the R7, but then I still lose magnification. Take enough shots and eventually you get a winner. :)
