Sigma new 105mm macro better than canon 100L macro ?

I've been using my 100L for two years now. All macros tend to be very good. I had a older Sigma 105mm Macro and it was good. However, it also would not work with a Canon DSLR because of Sigma's reverse engineering. They charged me $100 to re-chip it. I've had three more that were that way, but could not be rechipped. I learned my lesson about Sigma the hard way..

If you look at the chart, the Sigma maybe has the edge (a small one) wide open at f2.8 but as soon as stop down to even f3.2 or f4.0 the Canon L Macro actually seem better 0 to my eye anyway.

Am sure they perform both very well in real life situation however.

Agreed, there is a slight edge wide open, but the Canon smashes the Sigma stopped down. It's a shame because it could have been a great bargain.
