Some advice on a day in NYC

Hello all-

I live near NYC and have photographed it quite a bit. I try to get in for a day every so often and have one such day coming up.

I'm shooting sunrise from Brooklyn Bridge park, then walking across the bridge and into Chinatown for some street stuff. I've got 75-mins of access with tripod to the lobby and mezzanine of the Woolworth Building from 11-12:15. Meeting friends for lunch during overhead sun. Then up to The Cloisters on the way home.

I've never shot the interior of the Woolworth or The Cloisters at all. I own the 24 TS-E II, 16-35L IS, 24-70L II, 100L Macro, and 70-200L IS II. Considering renting the 17 TS-E though. Anyone done either or both and have an opinion? Are those locations better suited to the 24 or 17?

Thx,

Ryan

[UPDATE-PHOTOS] Re: Some advice on a day in NYC

Well I never did get any responses to my request for advice, so I opted to use what I had rather than rent. Below are that morning from Brooklyn Bridge Park, Woolworth, a homeless vet I hung out with for a bit, and an afternoon shot at the Manhattan Bridge.

In my opinion, 17 TS-E would've been quite helpful at the Woolworth. That will weigh into my next purchasing decision.

Post are low res. No access to my computer for next 2 days.

Very nice images.
Question:
When you walked over the Manhattan bridge overpass towards Manhattan was there any spot where there is a area to shoot the Brooklyn bridge uninterrupted by the wire mesh?

Thanks all.

Ray, not exactly. You can however fit a lens unobstructed under the railing beneath the wire fencing. I shot that with the 16-35L IS which has a 77mm thread. I'm not sure 82mm would fit. There are also holes cut in the wire fence at points along the way, though 82 is hit or miss.

Thanks. I guess it's installed for safety but really did spoil the beautiful view. Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of my favorite places to shoot. I have mainly shot there at/after sunset. I like your morning shot, have to give it a try next time.

Ray-

You certainly should check BBP out at sunrise! The sun pops over Brooklyn and paints the city a beautiful pink. I've shot it from sunset too, but am torn between the east side of shooting from Jersey. I had some fun there recently.

Are you in the area? I'm always looking for people to hang out with and enjoy photography. Perhaps we can meet up and trade favorite shot spots?

Here's BBP at sunrise, and night from NJ...

Lovely shots! I really like the Statue with the moon! I am about 3 hrs away from the city. So will have to plan it ahead. PM me an email or something and next time I plan I'll write to you. I have shot from the NJ side as well near the path station in Jersey City, another lovely place after dark. I believe the Tear Drop memorial is a good spot too but never have been there yet. I suspect it will need at least a 400 mm to shoot from there.
