Check out camera.com they are a local supplier near me, they do a lot of ebay and amazon business, they are very reputable and many times allow you to order at the store and pick up at there warehouse.

They did not do preorders and advised me when they get stock they will go live and be in the show room, if its on the sitre they have stock, they usually pull or list clearly out of stock.

www.cameta.com

Huh...the cameta page shows list price of $5,300, "Our price" as $3,499. "You save $1,801.00". That doesn't fill me with a lot of warm & fuzzies. Granted, the price they're selling it for is 100% accurate, but showing that list price? Really? As far as I know that's a flat out lie!

I wouldn't worry to much about when sites show list, msrp, etc. I would only worry about final price in cart. If you look at there other canon items they usually have cheaper prices than B&H and adorama.

They usually have great deals on kit lens, for example the 24-105mm is a great deal.

There site is pretty dated overall, most sites used to have some over inflated price to make theres look better. If your concerned for the overall rep of the company you can check out:

My main post was to let people know Cameta and Berger Bros had the camera in stock, and hopefully others would post places they knew had the camera in stock as well. My reply was to let people know both vendors are good reputable companies, incase others saw your posts about getting irked and losing your warm & fuzzies.

I appreciate your point and concern for the uneducated consumers, although I find most people wouldn't get so bent out of shape about it. In addition, if someone really purchased something from one vendor because of a crossed out msrp/list price and got taken advantage of they wouldn't have anyone to blame but themselves.

C'mon, the 5-dot-3-hundred is clearly a wink from the marketing dept. No one pays MSRP to anyone and hasn't for years.

Any word on whether it shipped or not? I can't stand that in the digital age we live in.. websites still have "in stock" listed for products when they really have no clue.. so I'm hoping that outdated looking site isn't one of those, and that in stock is legit.. because I pre-ordered via amazon way before others who are getting their deliveries and that fact pisses me off enough to cancel and go elsewhere..

Funny, after seeing this thread I called Cameta and ordered one. They told me the same thing, they had one and could sell it to me. I ordered it and they said I would get a tracking number tomorrow when it ships out. I have a feeling if someone else called they would get the same crap. I wonder if they have any at all. Now i'm a bit perturbed. :-\
