This is getting pretty ridiculous, I'm thinking of cancelling my pre order.
So he uses the camera for an hour in 86 deg F "summer weather" (does this mean out in the sun?) and he's shocked that it got hot? The only thing that's pretty ridiculous here is using an electronic device for an hour straight in hot summer weather and expecting it not to get hot. I wouldn't use a laptop outdoors for an hour in 86 degree weather and expect it to be in very good shape afterward either.
Everyone needs to calm down. Barely anyone has the camera in their hands yet. Nobody knows how this will truly work in the real world. If this overheating thing is that terrifying to you, go buy a 5D Mark IV. It will almost never overheat. It's a capable camera, albeit missing about five years of technological advancements. People need to come to terms with the fact that cameras are becoming processing intensive electronic devices like everything else. It can't defy physics. It's going to generate heat, and if you use it outside in hot weather, it's going to get even hotter. Again if that's too much of a problem, enjoy the last several decades of camera technology. They were robust and reliable for what they were.
The man is after clickbait, and he is doing a very good job of it. Relax, your camera will be fine but the truth is if you don't love it you can return it, but you'll love it! Stop listening to people like Gerald and make your own decision when you have your own camera....I am disappointed by the lack of detail in this tweet.
If the Camera is fully locked up after an hour of shooting photos than my pre-order will feel pretty fn stupid.
I think that's a fair enough perspective.. Personally though, there is just too much doubt aroubd this camera for me to justify a pre-order. I'm going to wait a few months until some more thorough real world testing has been done. I often shoot a lot of stills and then transition to video on the fly... so this tweet is definitely at least a slight concernThe man is after clickbait, and he is doing a very good job of it. DPReview are saying completely contradictory stuff to this and whilst I don't trust them an inch I'd say if there was a problem they would be highlighting it.
Your right of course, this tweet was the first thing that rattled my resolve as it was so unexpected. The man is after clickbait, and he is doing a very good job of it. No way Canon would release a stills Camera that cannot shoot stills. My order cannot come soon enough so I can go back to taking photos and ignore all the noise.
30 day return policies exist for a reason.
I was really hoping to be able to shoot stills with the camera, which is 95+% of what I do, and then switch to 8K video for 10-15 sec for short burst. Maybe not unreasonable to expect that a black body camera to get warm in the summer. Should Canon have made the camera white so it would not have absorbed all wavelengths of radiation? I will test this myself once the camera is in hand. 30 day return policies exist for a reason.
