It betters lenses such as the 40 STM and 100 L when all three are wide open. No 35mm lens does that on the 1Ds mk III. There are plenty of tests online by know, and they compare it to the others. It definitely is a excellent lens. What is lacking so far are some of the other tests such as coma, CA, LOCA, astigmatism, etc. Is it worth the price compared to a Sigma? That has not yet been answered, but as far as MTF charts go, its a wash. Those other features might make a difference. I expect that AF accuracy may be the main thing that sets it apart.
