Spoiler alert! We all know that is an empty box in that picture. Those fortunate enough to be early recipients now have the responsibility of providing a review for the rest of us to drool over.
The secret's out! LOL
Won't be able to take it out til tomorrow or Sunday, but I can say it's everyting you'd expect it to be. It's not too big, but I'll attach some comparison pics. Weight is like 28-70 or 100-500, but it's very well balanced! The zoom is awesome! One finger 24-105, very short throw, like the EF 70-200.

Price of a bit of sleep, apparently 4 days for the RF 24-105 f/2.8 and a backorder notice for the EF 200-800.

Yep, received notice from B&H, I receive my 24-105 f/2.8 on Monday.

Just in time for Christmas :D
It's looking like Canon made more of the 24-105 than the 200-800. Kind of unusual, given that the 24-105 is an L lens and they are normally slow on the scene.

we've heard of 2-3 people getting it here and I have heard of a couple of people getting an early 200-800... I do not think we have a statistically relevant sample to judge this on :giggle:

Got my RF 200-800 yesterday from my local dealer here in Germany. Preordered before official preordering. Spent an hour outside on kingfishers. Just my spontanous impressions as a RF 800-user for nearly two years: It is heavier, let's see how this works out in the long run, looks great, also in practice F9 is more light than F11, AF greatly improved compared to the RF 800. And what I did not expect but what really impresses me is the near focus distance.

Feels great... ;-)

The mfd of the RF 800/11 is 6m and the RF 200-800mm at 800mm is 3.3m. That is still relatively long as the mfd of the RF 100-500mm at 500mm is only 1.2m, and the RF 100-400mm 1.03m at 400mm. If you are doing only bird photography, 3.3m is OK. But, for someone like me who does close ups as well as birds during the day, the 200-800 will not be my go-to lens. But, I will probably keep it when it arrives.
