What’s Next From Canon Round-up – The Canon EOS R6 Mark III and more

I thoroughly enjoy those who consider a lens from 2019 to be a dinosaur. Meanwhile, I captured some awesome photos with my r5m2 paired with an ef 135mm f/2L this past weekend; A lens from 1996.

I want new lenses too, but let's not act like the older models are inferior.

I'm still hoping for a small body that outperforms my R8, which hasn't happened yet. All the APS-C bodies have a rolling shutter that is at least twice as bad or have features that, to me, don't make sense on that body, like the EVF on the R50.
The closest so far seems to be the V1, but that is a fixed lens body. Something to hold in my own hands before buying.

Even if such a body appears, my R8 performs so well that its replacement needs to have a killer feature, otherwise it will last me many more years.

Yes and yes. The TS lenses don't even need to have AF...
Besides adding a 14mm RF TS lens, how would Canon improve the current TS lenses?
Aren't they already really sharp? Maybe reduction in weight but I would imagine that they are used mostly on tripods anyway.
Without a drop in filter, then the RF versions couldn't handle ND/CPL filters without massive front element glass for the wide angles. I assume that rear gels would be a pain to use.

A TS-R 14mm would be very welcome (a preorder for me). What I’d really like are encoded movements, which would enable lens profile corrections based on those movements (e.g., the asymmetrical vignetting).

The TS-E lenses don’t take rear gels. Maybe TS-R’s will? They’re not especially painful, though of course no CPL for that.

Sony is waiting for Canon R6iii pricing. And I guess Canon is doing the same for Sony a7.... Chicken or dare time.

Nikon Z6iii set a low bar, I hope Canon will do more than just clog2 & stacked CMOS. Preferably have a hybrid one and a dedicated 60+MP

There will not be a Canon camera above 45mp and that would defeat the purpose and segment of the 6 series. The 6D Mark III will have a "variation" of the EOS R3 sensor.

If Canon goes above 45mp, it will be a jump much higher than 60mp, and it will be a 5 series camera. There's no point when 45 already exists.

You're not going to introduce an all new sensor in a line that will have a $2500 entrance fee.

You save a silly resolution sensor so you can charge $5K for an R5 S, and I'm not sure that market actually exists, forum fodder aside.

One can only hope. I got to borrow the 5DS for a trip. Loved the extra megapixels. Would love a R5SR.
Given that the 5DS/SR were 50mp, the linear resolution difference from the current R5/R5c/R5ii's 45mp would be negligible.
Grab a cheap R5 now if you liked the higher resolution. IBIS makes a huge difference as well for handheld shooting at that resolution.

I already have an R5C but you have to remember that at the time of the 5DS the resolution of the 5d3 was around 22mp. I would expect more of a resolution increase than 5mp. I can't remember if the 5d4 was available when the 5DS was released but that is 30mp. I would expect the R5S to be somewhere around 70-100mp. Of course it may not be in development at all so it may all just be a fun talking point.
