These represent cases of covering up noise with random detail and JPEG posterization, to me. If you printed these exact images "big" you'd either be seeing the benefits of said posterization and the low rez, or you'd be using the original files which we don't have before us to compare with. But point taken - for web use, at least, these are fine (although the football lion shot is such that, even in the embedded size, it looks grainy).
