im on the brink of purchasing a 6d. but m off travelling to australia, is it worth buying this item ether here in london, the airport (stopover in hong kong?) or australia itself? if im buying this thing brand new from a major retailer ?

Duty free in Hong Kong will prob give you the biggest saving. Just make sure you check prices of both high street stores and eBay / amazon for comparison.

Buying in Hong Kong / Oz will give you an International warranty as opposed to a Uk one so something else to consider.

Also, buying overseas on your credit card may incur currency conversion charges that will add to your final cost.

Good luck. Let us know what you decide to do.

Cheers

Buying it home has the advantage of easier returns if something goes wrong, plus you get to learn on the camera for a bit before the trip.
