24-70 f/2.8L IS
A couple of people have reported to seeing the lens in the wild. One “witness” said the lens hood was very different.
As with most of these sightings, no pics are available.
35 f/1.8
A 35 f/1.8 is being reported again. NL has posted about it. We posted about it a while ago here and here.
T1/2000D Announcement
We were burned on this one! No T1/2000D as of yet. I have no CR3 sources piping up about such an announcement.
One person commented that perhaps Canon is preparing an announcement with a little more fanfare.

With announcements like this, plans can change. If there is, for example inside information about the competition making a announcement that might upstage a product, they have been known to wait and see, or even retool the item.
They can even feed false leaks to company insiders to ferret them out, and see if they get published. Doing this is very effective in stopping leaks.

PLEASE RELEASE VERY FAST THE LENS 24-70 f/2.8 IS
I NEED THIS LENS.
On the other hand, June 28th saw a very active release of new video cameras. Much of the technology has now become portable between the still and video side.
Well, does that mean my 40D will go up in value now that they are no longer manufactured? They are still listed on the Canon USA Web site, but presumably will be pulled once the current stock has had time to sell out.
Maybe the production line will start making 60D’s.
BTW, they are still available at Adorama, Amazon.com, Calumet, Norman Camera, & Ritz. Several others are also out of them.
I hope that they release 24-70mm before august, it will be the perfect gift for the upcomming marrage season. :)
I know this is a pipe dream, but it’d be nice for the 135L to have IS… It’s be the perfect gig lens. Everyone’s so obsessed with the 24-70L getting IS.
I don’t think so canon 24-70 will get IS, Canon doesn’t have necessary techniques.
clearly not, since they created IS well before the other manufacturers and can put IS in lenses like the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS
While I wouldn’t exactly complain about a 24-70 IS… is it really that necessary over the 24-105 and the current 24-70? I think I would be much more likely to blow $1600+ on a 24-70 (or even a 18-80 while I’m dreaming) non-IS f/2.8 with absolutely mind boggling optics. Leave IS for the consumer and super tele markets. That would be the ultimate walk around all purpose lens for me. That being said… I hope they come out with something new soon! I suppose there is also no chance at all for a 24-70 f/2?
‘One “witness†said the lens hood was very different.’
That would be enough for someone to conclude the poor guy cannot tell between a 24-105mm and a 24-70mm LOL. What a load of crap!
hehe, thought the same :)
could you pass the pipe please? :)
hey! give the poor witness a break! he was dreaming in a hot weather so he couldn’t tell for sure ! >_>
Dear Canon, it’s an open letter to you. It’s a matter of fact Canon lacks a quality yet pocket friendly walk around EF-S lens (something between 17-105 range, though you have made two good yet cheap lenses i.e. 18-55 IS and 55-250 IS. But you can not say 18-55 range is good for walk around purpose and again 55-250 lacks wide angle part. You have your 17-85 IS USM in arsenal.. but its optically very mediocre. Your arch rival and other rivals are coming up with very good walk around solutions, optically very competitive yet not so high priced. It’s true in third world countries in Asia and Africa and South-America, you have a huge customer base who use DSLRs but not maximum of them specially beginners, amateurs and serious-amateurs can not afford to buy your very best L-series lenses. We are in urgent need of an optically potent EF-S walk-around lens and of course which must not be ridiculously higher priced. It’s the call of this hour from this part of Canon world!!!
like ive said… dosnt matter when it does come out (hopefully within a years time) as long as they make it good, and right the first time.
I agree a good quality Canon EF-S 18-105 IS to rival Nikon’s 18-105 DX is needed. Nikon also have the 18-135 DX. So come on canon fill the gap in the EF-S line up.
