Canon Rumors

“The 220EX II is confirmed”

Short and sweet.

UPDATE
This post is still a rumor, I’ve found no confirmation of the flash. I haven’t rated the rumor because it was an anonymous email.

  • Hmmm got a bad feeling it’ll be like it’s predecessor and won’t have a swivelling head… which is a shame really as it’s pretty much pointless then. Save up and get the 430ex, or just don’t bother.

  • there was once a rumour about a new top-flash that was “stronger” than the 580ex’s

    any news on that?

  • hmm. I take back my previous sarcastic comment….

This flash will go great with the rumored ef-s prime 50. OMG the creative possibilities.

I am so glad they focus on these really important pieces of equipment instead of working on stuff those silly professional people need!

    :P I am in a silly mood.

  • I think you guys might need to change your underwear… Maybe it’s time to get you guys laid.

  • i just bought two 430ex!!

and i am stoked! if i would spend the money that a 220 costs i would get a 285hv from vivitar

    this is pointless

  • Unfortunately, we may all have to wait until summer for the new 220EXII … i mean, Canon have already spent “all their best in the spring collection” for the 500d :P

Whatever… I for one welcome our new flash grandmaster!

  • more often than ever I wonder what canon is doing with there time. flash: stuff like the st-e2 is a dinosaur, about 2 generations old, way behind the time

the 5dII after 3 years of development is a last-minute-put together that many customers have to return because of errors and flaws. and they even dare to include aeb for 3 shots – as if hdr didn’t exist in todays photography.

I had the chance to test a a900 from sony these days and all I can say is, that I regret very much to have so much canon glass.

  • i hate to say this phil but you mostly sound silly –
the a900 is really crap and all the decent sony lenses cost even more than their canon counterparts –
Also where is your info about people returning their 5DII – the camera is the camera of the year hands down –

Onto the subject at hand – if the new 220 has a bounce like the little nikon and if it can slave from the 580 or ste2 (which is two generations behind what exactly? – the su800? explain to me what it does that the ste2 does not do)
then it is a good little purchase for 5D and 1 series shooters that would appreciate a bit of fill…

  • Well hope more from Canon comes out this year in the “Pro” range or I’ll be switching to another brand… (Nikon)

  • IF it has a swivelling head and is more compact than the 430 without being total aneimic than I would be very interested

  • I won’t be switching…. but I won’t be buying a new lens until the 24-70 gets IS on it.

  • Took Canon several years before they knew how to include live histogram in their compact cameras. Pretty pathetic, I must say.

  • you think it took them that long to do it or do you think that the person buying a compact has no idea what a histogram is?

when canon drops doo doo in our laps I’m more than happy to say it and there are several things they’ve done lately that have irritated the crap out of me but the things that are mentioned above wouldn’t make a top 40 hits of what canon has done to bother me…

  • Interesting reading. 27 replies (so far) about a rumour with so low credibility that it didn’t even get a credibility rating.

  • It’s from a technology point of view Johnny boy. D3 is better than a 1D MK3 and 1Ds MK3 period. I’ve been waiting for a 1D MK3 replacement since its been aging. The 5D MK2 is a very good camera but I need an all in one with low noise high ISO and good frame rate. 12 megapixels are good enough for now. Hence, the D3. And the D4 will be out the end of this year. I’ve been shooting canon since the 20D and have been a happy customer.

  • I’d love to see as many people switching as possible. I can already see buying all the L lenses of you for a fraction of their cost! I already got 24-70L of one such wise man.

  • Actually the Nikon D# cameras have a 3 year life span. the D3 came out in August 07, so the D4 won’t be out until around the middle of 2010
