Tamron 60mm f/2 Macro

Tamron has announced the development of a 60mm F2 macro lens that provides 1:1 magnification for APS-C sensors. The lens, called the SP AF60mm F/2.0 Di II Macro 1:1, will be available in Canon, Sony and Nikon mounts (with a built-in autofocus motor to allow AF to operate on the D40, D40X and D60). Its design, which incorporates two low dispersion elements to to compensate for various aberrations, lets you achieve 1:1 magnification at a working distance of 100mm. The F2 maximum aperture makes it a whole stop faster than other lenses in the same class. Price and availability will be announced later.

  1. Im starting to get a bit pissed off wth all these crop sensor only lenes being releeased. As i have a 5D and 30D i want lenses that will work on both, so this lens does not interest me.

  2. Totally agree. Waited years until the 5D2 to upgrade from my 350D. Waited for many lenses that are appearing now, after I changed to 35mm. ;)
Tamron should really release some new FF lenses, like a 24-70 version of their excellent and cheap 28-75.

  3. If only I could be a member of the full frame elite like you, o great nick… alas I am bound to my lowly APS-C camera, for which I desire lowly EF-S lenses.
