From a reader

The reader was told there was a Canadian price increase coming on the
5D2.

This would mean all Canadian preorders would end up costing more.

I'll try to find more info.

  1. I think a site needs to be set up to bring more attention to this issue (pre-order price increases). If anyone has any suggestions please bring them forward.

  2. class action lawsuit involving all who pre paid against all photo equipment dealers who accepted the prepayment would be the only recourse

  3. Class action lawsuits will not work, as the cost would involve testimony from monetary experts qualified to render expert knowledge of international money markets.

Unless you are qualified as having expert knowledge in this very specialized area, it could cost a great deal more than the additional cost of price increase on a camera or lens.

This is about more than just one company – “Canon”, or corporate greed. The depreciation of world money markets will eventually encompass all suppliers of advanced digital
and electronic systems. Adjustments will be made – you will pay more or do without, on more than just DSLR’s.

I understand the frustration on your “dream DSLR acquisition” – try to broaden your perspective to what is really going on.

  4. Charles this case is as easy as individual customers taking their specific distributors to small claims court. Customers can represent themselves and if they end up losing they won’t be forced to pay the legal fees of the distributor. It would be a nightmare for Vistek and Henry’s to be facing hundreds of small claims courts cases, but it wouldn’t be too much work at all for the customers who take them there.

Try to narrow your perspective on what the issue is here.
