From Canon Singapore Canon Singapore posted an image on the their Facebook page showing the EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x. They say in the caption: “Be one of the first to check out the soon to be launched EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x at the EOS Experience Roadshow happening this weekend! We’ll be at Cathay Orchard Cineleisure this 4-6 January from 11am-10pm! See you there!” The wait may finally be over. How much you ask? I’m still hearing it’ll be about $11,000 USD. Review of the EOS 6D Photographer Michael Stringer used the new Canon EOS 6D at a wedding and thinks it’s a terrific camera. Below is his review and showcases the high ISO performance of Canon’s little full frame camera. Some of Michael’s thoughts “In a nutshell – the 6D is a smaller, lighter and cheaper version of the 5D Mark III if you photograph static (or slow moving) subjects. Handling is different (to the 5D III) but mostly fine and easy to get used to especially if coming from a Canon 60D or similar. Image quality is excellent and predictable…

Even at the high end For all the flack Canon gets from us passionate pundits, they continue to sell more DSLR cameras than anyone else. Interchangeable Lens Camera Marketshare for 2012 (Japan) Canon 28.6% Nikon 25% Olympus 14.3% Sony 13.3% Panasonic 11.3% An interesting note about Canon, if you remove the lowend of the DSLR market (Rebels, D3xxx/D5xxx), Canon’s marketshare increases. I imagine the 5D Mark III plays a big part in that, as well as the EOS-1D X. Canon’s performance in the mirrorless segment cannot be properly measured until the 2013 numbers come in. For 2012, they sat at…

Big megapixel We’ve heard previously about a 46mp image sensor that exists and is in testing. We’re now told that multiple large megapixel sensors exist, and one that is sure to reach market is a 39.3mp sensor. There is also a suggestion that we will see DIGIC VI processors before the larger megapixel camera(s) reach the market in late 2013 or early 2014. This comes from a new source, so take it with a grain of salt. I’ve also heard from two different people that the earthquake that happened in Japan is still affecting manufacturing and development of new products…

More time with the EOS 6D When I brought the EOS 6D to Costa Rica as my only camera body, I honestly didn’t think I’d like the camera all that much. I’ve had the luxury of using some great cameras like the EOS-1D X and EOS 5D Mark III. However, after a little over a week with it, I must say that I’m very impressed. The Good (So far) The image quality is top notch, I find colour rendition and dynamic range to be terrific. Build quality, the camera doesn’t feel cheap. The ergonomics are  better than I thought they’d…

The myth! The EOS 3D gets another mention over at Northlight, this time in the form of a 50+mp camera body that will appear in late 2013 or early 2014. While I am pretty sure we’ll see such a camera eventually, I’m not sure when it will materialize. Canon seems to be taking their time with a big megapixel camera, here’s hoping it’s because they want to get it right. I also think Canon is getting the “popular” lenses upgraded first to help get the most out of the upcoming big sensors. Source: [NL] cr

From Canon France Canon France has begun teasing us about a new product. They have titled the teaser “Creativity with a twist”. With the graphic they also say (Translated): “Soon, we will share information that will change the way you look at the world…” By the image below, it looks like they’re talking about small camcorders. Or maybe they’re going to take another run at a TX1 type of product. I notice the missing camcorder and missing ping pong ball, what does it all mean? I’m sure whatever it is, we’ll see it for CES in just over a week.…
