The official ship date for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II is August 20, 2024. However, it looks like inventory is already hitting retail and deliveries have started. This isn't unusual, so if you have a good relationship with a store, you may have an opportunity to get your hands on one before the official ship date. Most retailers should have their first allocation by the end of this week.

This is the second reported delivery of the EOS R5 Mark II that we have received from Canon Rumors readers. If you're thinking about grabbing an EOS R5 Mark II, it's probably a good idea to get yourself onto a couple of preorder lists. Allocation looks like it's going to come in two week intervals.

  1. I imagine that Canon gives him priority treatment, but Jared Polin recently received the final production version of the camera.

No, these were retail deliveries, nothing to do with Canon.

I think he said he ordered from Allen's which is the local store for him. I know the small mom and pop stores are a little loose with dates. Some guy on Reddit got his early too through his local B&M

  3. I was one of the first to order on B&H, and my order status has gone from \"backordered\" to \"new order.\"
My MK II and Grip showed the same but the batteries still show 'Backordered'.

  4. Hopefully, one arrives at photonstophotos HQ early. I\'m really interested in seeing the results.
I'm hoping for the same, and I'll be working with Bill to get him the photos he needs over the coming days.

  5. R52 bodies started to be sent to dealers early last week, so everyone (or most) has them just sitting there. I was offered one early, but I don't want the camera, but I will take them up on the R1 in November!

  6. And DRreview is starting the bandwagon of R5ii is more noisy than R5 & DR is not as good as Z8.
I'm seeing the same usernames that complained about Canon "cooking RAWs" now complaining about the extra noise now that Canon has stopped cooking the RAWs....

The extra detail that people report seeing is a nice bonus for my usecase, I'll take the hit on noise for that. I'd also happily trade noise for a global shutter, but that's not a popular opinion here ;)

  7. Well, that sounds consistent, nothing has changed there in 20 years.
I just read the readers' comments. According to them, the R5 II must be worse than any existing Sony or Nikon. Poor colors, miserable DR, even the cripple-hammered R5 was better. DRreview have the readers* they deserve...
You're right, some things never change!
