EF 35 f/1.4L
I've received a few reports of people around the globe being unable to order EF 35 f/1.4L lenses and being told they're discontinued.

Another reader in France was price watching them and they seem to have disappeared from a few sites.

I don't think the lens is being discontinued myself, but the following lens is for real.

EF 24-70 f/2.8L IS
More murmurs from one person saying they've touched the new 24-70 IS. It is set for a summer launch with availability in October/November.

  1. That’s what I’m talking about f/2 zooms! Preferably something either side of 50mm, 35-70 f/2 would be perfect I would be first in line.

  2. Would like a new 50 1.4 myself. The 50 1.2 L’s IQ is not great and is totally overprized. Make it “L-like” build with reasonable MFD with useable corner IQ from 1.8 on FF and Canon could have a winner.

  3. Tried the Sigma 50 F1.4 on my 5D2, nice build and 77mm filters. But only “usable” from ~F2.8 and MFD not great.

I’m just sayin’, every ‘current’ prime at 100mm and less with a red ring has seen either been updated or newly released in the last four years. Every prime but the 35L, that is. I think an update is very likely.

I don’t buy the ‘discontinued’ rumor – they will announce the MkII version, *then* discontinue the current one.
