Well, duh - that's what I was referring to in my first comment.Funnily enough, Canon have just done exactly this....go look at the new RF 7-14mm fisheye!
In the press release for the two lenses, Canon stated end of February:So is everyone hearing end of Feb for the arrival date? I'm in Australia and I got an email after my pre-order saying March.
The Canon RF7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L Fisheye STM zoom lens and RF14mm F1.4 L VCM prime lens are currently expected to be available by the end of February 2026...
Blanket statements are always a bit precarious. I have spent the last few months seriously looking at Nikon's offerings - and they do have some excellent choices. But in my experience - and my preferences, Canon would be my choice. During the 5 years or so I have been shooting wildlife (mostly birds) I find that primes are far too restrictive. Those lightweight Nikon PF lenses are sure tempting, but I will choose a zoom over a prime every time. I do prefer a lightweight lens, though, so the best wildlife lens in my opinion is the Canon RF 100-500. For many birds I shoot, maximum reach is another preference, in which case, the RF 200-800 is something no one else offers, and it is also relatively affordable, which is my other preference. So, based on that, my vote for the best two wildlife lenses available at a reasonable cost are both Canon.... Compared to especially Nikon, Canon is currently not first choice for wildlife and sports photographers, even if the R5 II is an amazing camera to do exactly that.
Comparing the MTF diagrams of the RF lens vs. the EF version, the RF performs much better, and although the optical construction at first sight may look similar, several elements are clearly different (RF: 16 elements, 11 groups, 2 aspherical, 5 Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) vs. EF: 14 elements, 11 groups, 1 aspherical, 1 UD) - which I suppose explains the marked improvement in performance. Not really, it's pretty much the EF version with an integrated Ef ot R adapter with dropin filters. Very sweet, this is the first RF lens taht can use these particular drop in filters. I hope Canon does a few more UWA lenses with this feature!
Oh, hell yeah. The eBay scalpers gonna have a field day with these cameras fetching $2000+.I wonder if you could get $2000 for one on Amazon or ebay. I know the "regular" one was fetching $1500.
Your photos are the stars! Did you take a back-up body and lens with you? Thanks, glad you are enjoying the photos. We ended up observing almost fifty species of hummingbirds on that trip, so there were plenty of photos to choose from.
Our guide wrote up a comprehensive trip report, which you can access online at https://www.birdingecotours.com/trip-report/very-best-of-colombia-trip-report/
what were you expecting? anything more than that and maybe an accessory would have been a new camera model. maybe a cool faux leather case with a shoulder strap would have gone over big...As a "limited edition" it couldn't be more "limited", unless Canon just repackaged the same camera in a different box.

Sure! by saving me money I can spend on Hasselblad stuffCan you give us a clue how Canon can make you happy?![]()
Is it like clicking your heels together three times? Or saying Beetlejuice? If you repeat it often enough, it must happen!I wonder how long it will be before Canon releases a photocentric PowerShot with their new 1.4" sensor. It's a safe bet that Canon didn't create a new sensor and a new sensor size for just one camera model.
The most expensive SD Card ever
Hm if they had done this: they would have added here also the drop in filter!14/1.4 is definitely very busy internally!
They have thrown everything in one lens and hoping that users needing just one feature will pony up the $$$$
Can you give us a clue how Canon can make you happy? It must be a *you* thing... Canon obviously, manifestly, undeniably, demonstrably, evidently and patently, must make *me* happy!![]()
It's going to be real, and is going to be spectacularwe're ignoring that for now. Craig is going to write that one up because he doesn't trust me to do so![]()
