Lastolite products have been sold for a while as "Lastolite by Manfrotto", but now Vitec Grpup has decided to drop the Lastolite brand fully and sell those products under the Manfrotto brand.

For some reason, all the adapters appear to be in stock here in Denmark, and has been so for some time now. The supply issues reported did give me some concern until I checked the stock at the pro dealers here.

I used a gripped 7D and 5DII, which were ok but the integrated grip has a different shape that I find much more comfortable (the add-on grips bulge on both sides to accommodate transverse batteries, the 1-series only bulges in front). I also found the flex between grip and body to be problematic on a tripod, but removing and replacing the grip is a PITA.

Not at all sure how I’d feel about something like this patent design. Bulk isn’t a big deal (my camera bags are sized for pro bodies), but not sure about all-day comfort, and too much weight savings would be bad for me (as above, it’s more about balance than total mass).

I agree that ergonomics is a personal thing, although there are a few basic rules such as leaving a sensible gap between the grip and the lens - a problem with early Sony cameras. I've owned, hired or borrowed virtually every camera that Canon has made, at some stage. I found the 5D and 7D series handled extremely well. The gripped 1Dxii handled even better, but was just too heavy to carry, and I often shoot in very tight situations, sometimes with the camera on the ground, and need to have the lens as low as possible, so most of the time I prefer ungripped bodies. I can't get on with the RP, which I find much too small and fiddly, especially if using anything longer than a 100mm lens. The R5 balances well in my (largish but skinny) hands, with all the lenses I own (listed below).

UPDATE on RF14-35 availability......just rec'd notification from B&H that my June 29th pre-order has shipped, with ETA of Fri Aug 27th. So, after having rec'd my Jun 1 pre-ordered RF100mm F2.8L is macro lens last week and soon to be rec'd RF14-35 pre-order in just two days, is this a sign of Canon's supply chain finally catching up?? Let's hope so, as R3 announcement lingers soon, we hope, even as we wonder if there will be some new lens announcements that day as well........It's worth noting, whether you are interested in the 14-35 or not, that while I pre-ordered the RF14-35 a month after the RF100, it will arrive just one week later. That sounds encouraging.

Makes me wonder if more has gone into the IBIS part of the FW for the R5 than for the R6. In other words, was more IBIS enhancement achieved in this FW update than when the R6 was last updated?

Hopefully, you've solved this problem by now, after receiving all the advice from fellow members. Don't feel too bad, I've been guilty of this same snafoo on occasion. In my case, the problem was always my incorrectly copying and pasting the new firmware into the folder(s), instead of the root directory. I learned the hard way to never put the firmware into a folder. The camera will not recognize it.

I should note that all the inventions described are fully real and in actual real-world working products. The main sensor we use in our 70mm Medium Format Plus camera is a 1.89:1 aspect ratio 16384 by 8640 pixel as-per-documented notch-filtered multi-sized photosite pixel array.

The substrates are all new so the photosensitive area of the image sensor is basically full-colour nightvision with only the barest starlight and moonlight needed for full colour scene illumination. It goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond what a Sony A7s3 can do in terms of low-light-levels for still photo and moving video image quality!

I was very unclear in what I wrote.

I was thinking that maybe they have this new feature where a higher resolution sensor can output full frame images at lower apparent resolution.

How does the image look on an R5 without cropping?

If I understand correctly (and please correct me if I don't), on the FF sensor it's a equivalent to a ~13.5mm lens.

How do the edges look?

I tried all apertures with my 24-70 2.8 Tamron and saw that it occurred in every aperture except 2.8. Also, I have faced a problem similar to the aperture issue. While VS is on, during the record an instant frame dislocation is occurring and I found out this happens because of the VS and turn it off. But in this aperture problem, it seems like it stops only 2.8 or when the AF is off and it is really annoying. I have never faced such a problem with my old mark4. Do you have any suggestions to fix this issue or is my lens garbage for r5?

Interesting, but I have 2 questions:

a-.do you know if this accessory provides the 24V Phantom power supply for the microphones requiring this ?

b-.are you aware of a similar accessory for the EOS 5D Mark III ? ok it is an "old" model, but I love it, and I miss this kind of accessory ! this is the reason for which I continue to use a professional camcorder....

I leave the printer on all the time because it seems to be happier that way compared to constantly turning it off and on. So the printer was on when this occurred. But, it's worth noting that I had the printer plugged into a Furman PST-8 surge protector, which it pretty much the best surge protector you can buy. While I'm not 100% sure, I seem to remember that the surge protector wouldn't even turn on when the voltage in the house was low, so it might even have logic to just shut off the power going through it if it senses low voltage.

The print head error happened the very next time I used the printer after the power issues though. Now I'm trying to figure out if the print head damage might have been related to the power issues, or if it just coincidentally happened right at the same time.

What do you guys think? I have heard some people say the print heads only last about two years anyway, and if that's the case, then I guess mine was about due to go out. My main concern is that I usually only print one small thing about every week just to keep the head from clogging up. Maybe I need to print more often to avoid printer head issues in the future?

Ultimately I'm just not sure if I should consider the head failure a result of the power issues, even though I had it plugged into a very good surge protector, or if I should change my printing habits to prolong the life of the new head. Thanks.

Two years seems about average pretty much regardless of the actual printing the head has done. I have replaced the head on my three year old Pro-2000 once.

One nice thing is the heads are easy to change and readily available, unlike Epson who will not sell their large format print heads.

An unnerving aspect of changing the head is that you can’t initiate a head change from the menu all the time it is telling you to replace the head! You have to switch the printer off, then manually move the head carriage then take the old head out, it takes just a few seconds. Then power the printer up and it will reset the carriage and give you an install head option. I found this very strange but Canon support talked me through it very efficiently.

Many thanks for sharing. I was tempted by the product, though was one of those somewhat skeptical that Vitec plc (who own Gitzo) needed to crowd-fund., and so had some doubts about it.

By the time I'd decided to go with it anyway, the offers in the UK that were of interest to me were taken up, so I decided if there was no "offer", I may as well wait to see what it looked like once available.

As an aside - and I haven't followed the process and the videos you mentioned about packaging - I'm a little suprised that the earlier packaging caused wear/scuff issues - it doesn't bode well for longevity in the field . My kit goes through some fairly tough work-outs (deserts, jungles, ocean spray, arctic conditions) and other than some TLC around joints and cleaning, has all fared well.

I'll be interested to see any follow-ups you have after a few month's use.

Was thinking the same thing. Try checking diopter adjustment by the viewfinder to see if this could be the cause.

Well, its an odd, odd world....

So, today, out of the blue...I received an email. Telling me that Abes of Maine had shipped something to me. It didn't say what, but back when I'd first received the camera and discovered the cable protector didn't fit/work, I emailed the sales guy who helped me and asked him about it, and if they could send the correct part. I never received any response to that, even though I followed up once. Well, lo and behold, today...I received also received a package from some electronics company, and in that box was the correct cable protector part. The invoice listed non-standard stock. Odd, that they never responded to me, and yet still shipped the part!

Oh, and, it is the right part, and it works just fine.

Also odd... I received a package in the mail late last week, with....part IFC-100U. Labeled EOS ACC in a red box in the corner. This box contained nothing but a USB-C cable.... So, apparently...Canon decided to send me an extra cable, even though the one I have works fine, and I never asked them for an extra. The guy on the phone said the cable protector is only sold "with" a cable... Odd, however, that they never actually sent the part I needed....... Also that they never mentioned they would be sending me anything, the call was cut off midway through, and I was never able to finish the conversation. Only got an extra part I did not need, and only tangentially related to the part I needed.

I hope I'm just having one of those occasional bad experiences. I would hate to think this is what has become of Canon's once-vaunted world-class customer service!!

I am a NEW R6 owner, and I am using the older EF 24-105 with the EF adapter. using it in past on my 7d2 was no issue. but with the smaller r6 Body, this seemed awkard to shoot. I bought the BG-R10 today and Man what a difference in handling I was looking to get the 24-240, but I will wait now. Thoughts?

well I have a Sigma 18-300 that I can use on my 7D2 and I have a olde 12-24 tokina Lucky I have all otehr lens are FF 24-105 and sigma 150-600 and 100-400. I was thinking to get the RF-24-240

DCI 4K is for Cinema - Thats it. Wouldn´t make sense in a 1" compact ENG camcorder like the XF605 in my opinion ...

Why not do this in post ? If you don’t want to tweak tonal contrast yourself download the DXO NIK software and use the tonal contrast module.

I won't speak for other vendors, but at B&H you can use the invoice (accessible from your order history) instead of the boxed receipt. My RF 100 invoice shows not only the order date (April 14th in my case), but the invoice date (July 20th for me). Invoice date is when your warranty would start.
