because any reasonable digital camera has one or more very decent physical controls to vary aperture size. those control elements are called back wherl and front wheel and/or touch LCD plus proper firmware. control can be clicked in full, half or 1/3 stops or smooth action ... as user prefers and sets it.

Will have to keep my eyes open for these when I'm out and about - might be an easy way to extend my lens collection!

Everything is changing very fast. It makes me have to learn all the time.

I thought immediately that it must benefit me, certainly.

Another change... the battery door from the camera is much easier to attach to the shaft of the new grip. You no longer have to retract the hinge pin to insert it into the holder, it just slides in sideways and closes now. Much simpler/easier design.

Any clue with the convertor used to generate the DNG files. 5Dmk4 CR2 is not yet supported by Adobe and except tiff format I have not found how to generate DNG file accepted by LR

Can you help ?

It's a throwaway lens, and as others have said the newer versions are much improved.

If you have time to kill, by all means open it up to try and earn bragging rights, but I'd still grab the STM version and enjoy the improved shooting it offers.

Glad you are okay. I know the New Leaf policy will cover the front element, but still wondering whether they will test and repair a decentering problem. I've still got to do the test. It seems, though, that the photos are softer even after trying to AFMA again. I've not yet done the decentering test, but will before sending it in. The overall softness (inability to nail focus?) has me worried though.

Yup, I was one of the stubborn guys who eschewed filters for the purpose of protection. I am now a convert to the practice. I can always remove it if needed. Our little city had a 911 remembrance ceremony last night, but I used the 24-70 f/2.8L II for that. Below is the bagpipe player (just a snapshot.). My 70-200 was never quite as sharp as this.

It already looks like the Grand Canyon to me. Tears welled up in my eyes as I surveyed the scratches. Everybody probably always says this at one time or another, but I probably would never sell it. This stuff is all probably a one time shot for me (except the body).

I don't know about the 400, but avoid the Sigma if you're going to shoot concerts in a low-light situation. The auto focus is shockingly bad in low light. The lens is fine if you don't mind using manual focus.

Hi all, I have 1DX Mark 2, I have a small issue where when both cards are installed in the camera (CF and Cfast) and I am recording RAW to just one of them lightroom 6.6.1 import shows two of each image on the one card? If you remove the second card and import again it only shows one? Checking the cards on other systems shows only the one image as it should? Seems that LR seems duplicate the image (same filename etc) when both cards are installed, does not seem to matter what card is set as default it always shows duplicates when two card are installed in the camera.

Anyone have the same camera want to test, thing is I only just get the Cfast card as part of the offer so would never have known prior to running both cards.

Seems to be overflowing with snide remarks. Did Canon snub him like it seems Nikon snubbed Ken Rockwell. I find reviews delivered in such a manner to be condescending, even insulting, and it make me think I have better things to do with my time than watch. So, maybe ultimately, the approach will backfire.

1.64x crop is identical to Canon APS-C which I and all consider s35.

The crop is no issue. It's simply a FF camera in 1080p and a s35 camera is 4K.

(BTW Ursa 4K is 1.78x crop and no one calls it not s35. Raven is 1.75x crop and is S35, point is, these are very marginal differences)

So Now we have a s35 full 4K DCI Canon DSLR with internal 4:2:2 and DPAF.

What the?! This is SO exciting specs!!

Since the 5DII we know that Canon Standard Picture Styles provide an extremely film like colours and overal contrast. Just a bit rough in the DR area so this will translate to the 5DIV.

4:2:2 as Abraham said is a license Canon gave to this camera for broadcast approval. From now on all CNN/BBC/SKY etc small cameras will be replaced with the new 4:2:2 cameras by Canon (XC10, 5D).

Keep in mind this market (broadcast) is not small. It made the C300 what it is. So see how big and influential it is!

So this camera works on lots of markets, broadcast (422), Films (S35 4K), Documentary/Weddings (DPAF), I mean that's a lot.

Did we WANT C-Log? FF 4K? EVF attachement? Peaking/Zebras? Yes. But these are reserved for the C line and can be worked around and the good thing is that we've been working around the 5D bad video ergonomics for hears so now we have lots of great options.

Announced, maybe, but I wouldn't expect it any time soon.

The 15mm was announced 6 months ago, and it's only now starting to hit retailers (slowly). I think it would make sense for them, now that the 15mm is out the door, to make the official announcement for the 11mm ahead of Photokina, and I'm really interested to see what it will look like. But I won't hold my breath, this is probably a lens we won't actually see until well into 2017.

Of course I'd be happy to be wrong about this ...

Question, I gave my wife an SX-60 HS for Christmas 2015. While she prefers to stays in Green mode to photograph, and she kicks my butt with the zoom range. She fights to get the focus point in the right spot. I have tried to read the manual to see if there is an adjustment. I dont see anything. But can anyone offer any tips or tricks that I can share with her? We are soon to travel to the western mountains of NC to photograph elk. (Rut Season)
