That does not explain the 40%+ saving that I made on my 7D2 - which I paid VAT on. All it shows is that Canon USA are fleecing their customers nearly as much as Canon UK. Some other Canon importers are not so there is no reason that Canon UK should. Other brands are equally or even more guilty.

A small comfort I suppose?

Depends on how it makes it. If it creates first a RAW and then converts is to mRAW we are out of luck. Otherwise this is an interesting idea to extend buffer length.

Now that I read it again I understand that I didn't express it correctly. Of course the bottleneck is the memory I was just worrying about processing delays that could pose another bottleneck before write but these must be negligible...

I was just musing about the apparent difference between how Nikon presents their specs i.e. extreme high ISO capability of the D5 compared to Canon's more restrained and caveatted DPRAW (of course it may be useless, but I doubt that). That's one reason why many of us feel that what comes from Canon is probably going to be more positively received in the long term, such as the initial griping about the stupid useless 6D and its ultimate success.

Just forget it. The 1Dx is a real machine gun. You will hear it from far. Also 1DxII is still loud compared with 5D3 or 7D2.

I love the Tamron but you know the issues around size, weight and no filters can be daunting, however I love the Corner sharpness and the ease at which the purple color fringing can be corrected. But $1000 vs $ 2200, that's huge, Hopefully you can answer the question in everyone's mind: Is it a lens that is $1200 BETTER than Tamron or Nikon 14-24 w/adapter. (especially for Landscape Astrophotography)

This is pretty much where i'm at now. The Tamron is amazing but can't use filters and is a little heavy. Can the canon really offer $1200 in value over the Tamron? I would say that is pretty unlikely but I wait to be awed or for the price to drop. If it is too expensive then they will have no choice but to cut the price like they did for the 24/70 f/4.

I have the Tamron and it is a very fine lens. I like the heaviness. It is a beast. It can use filters, just not the kind that screw onto the lens. There are kits out there and can be bought for approximately the difference between the two lenses. In that neighborhood anyway. If I were a landscape shooter I think I would rather have those plate filters anyway instead of the screw on filters.

That said, if the quality and sharpness is much improved above the 16-35 f/2.8L II then I will get the III. Maybe not in the next couple of years, but I will get it.

Yeah the price will go down with time. The 100-400 II started at 2200 as well. You can get it refurbished on sale for 1500 if you're quick and 1800 new. I'll wait a year and if it's as good as it looks i'll sell my tamron and get this one at a lower price point.

I've been using one of these for years.
I use it mainly for real estate and product photography, but it is heavy to lug around.
Manfrotto now have a new geared head made from polycarbonate which is much lighter in weight.

I've been trying to find one to have a look at, but no-one in Sydney has one in stock for me to try.

The 5D IV is not the fastest, or slowest. It is not the highest resolution or lowest. It compromises on all issues and meets in the middle.

Other bodies are either the fastest or highest resolution.

The dreaded car analogy, when I was younger I wanted a fast car or a jacked up 4x4. I settled for a 5D IV because with kids I couldn't afford to buy a 5Ds R and a 1Dx II.

I think the number is just a worst-case guestimate. If ISO safety shift is enabled, the camera seems to use ISO 12800 as input for the number calculation instead of the actual ISO used. And the card speed does not seem to go into the calculatio. Even with a relatively slow card, my 70D still gives me 16 shots RAW in fast burst mode (a fast card might give you one or two more, though), even though it displays only 12 with ISO safety shift and 15 without.

Answering in the spirit of OP's question, the 80D. As there is one feature a mirrorless camera by definition, will not have. And that is an optical viewfinder. It might be possible to create a hybrid dslr with a liveview function in the ovf with mirror flipped up, but the converse is not possible with a mirrorless.
Coming from the 60D, I've only wanted my (camera) body to be larger, never smaller. So I might go so far as saying I'd take it all in a 5D IV package.

Now, this all stands until a mirrorless camera is released with real advantages over a DSLR.

The AF module and point availability with different optics is probably identical to the 1DXII. Like with the previous generation, what the flagship model gives you is more processor cycles available for faster and possibly more sophisticated AF (keeping up with the 2x FPS), plus more power from the bigger battery to drive the AF motors of big heavy lenses faster.

A small and SHORT correction.

It is weird how close the 5D4 is to the first 1Dx. A few people even said they will buy 1Dx2 only because of the price of Canon 5D4. In EU it costs aorund 4300 euro. Strictly for early adopters and rich kids. They will normalize it back for the holidays beginning with the EU Black Friday.

But the differences will be modest.

Your type so shooting is what the 5DSR was made for, it will give you higher IQ at the same output size but not at the per pixel level because the pixels are so much smaller and tech truthfully hasn't moved far between the 1DS MkIII and the 5DSR.

For the same print size the 5DSR will return higher IQ. The 5DMkIV will almost certainly follow the 1DXMkII and offer more DR and better color than the 1DSMkIII as well as a healthy resolution increase.

For most people these differences will not amount to much, for a self admitted anal retentive the differences will be huge.

Personally in your specific shooting situation I'd recommend looking at the Nikon D810 and Micro-Nikkor 200 f4, if the majority of my shooting was as your example, in that case the Nikon would be the way I'd go.

I recently downloaded from the Canon website the current version of the lens aberration correction files into my EOS utility program.

Question- not all my lenses seem to have correction files. Is this because these lenses do not need correction?

These are the lenses which do not have correction files
Most of these are NOT new lenses---

EF-s 24mm f2.8 STM
EF-s 10-18 f4.5-5.6 IS STM
EF 50mm f1.8 STM
EF 16-35 f4L IS USM

Am I missing something? Why can't I find correction files for these lenses?

How can I find out if correction files for these lenses will be available someday?
