Patent: LED lights included with the pop-up flash on a DSLR

The patent is a method of cooling the LED when placed in a small flip-up flash at the camera's top. Cooling LEDs is a big problem, especially if you need a fairly powerful light. Such an innovation would be very useful for video bloggers. Since I'm a novice blogger, I'm constantly trying to develop interesting content. So I'm constantly improving the room I'm shooting in to attract an audience. I recently purchased a smart led light, which gives a great variety of color options and settings. All in all, these lights are perfect for me.

EOS R3 eye-focus training: do it at least 10 times/rotation

I spoke to a Canon representative this Tuesday regarding a couple of questions regarding my R3 (he was at a pro dealer demonstrating RF lenses), and he told me that you need to train the eye-focus system at least 10-11 times in each orientation before it becomes really reliable

I don't recall seeing that mentioned in the user manual, so wanted to pass this info along to y'all.
I'm off to delete all the trainings and redoing them to see what if any difference it makes.
Thanks I had given up on it and just use the fancy (and wonderful) control pad thingy on the back. Will try again due to this.

Canon RF 24mm F1.8 Macro discussion

FWIW, here is Ken Rockwell's take on the 24/1.8
For those not wanting to wade through endless boilerplate:
Pros: tack sharp, can shoot handheld in near darkness.
Cons: with macro mode you get so close that the lens casts a shadow in the subject.

Yes, with the macro mode you must get really close, but that's part of the fun of it. It's a different way of shooting macro. As for the lighting, I try for diffuse lighting (overcast conditions) or sidelit/backlit.
With the 15-30 I can attach a UV filter and then place the lens face down on a newspaper. It will manually focus on the text, but it will be very, very dark :)

Canon EOS R100 specifications, which is possibly Canon’s next camera to be announced [CR1]

Other rumour sites have been saying Q1 2023 with their first mentions of the R100 at the start of this year. In the vein of '2 wrongs can make a right', do 2 rumours make a fact?
Sure, why not given enough rumors combined and they become fact. lol. Just like perception is stronger than evidence to some. hahaha.

Another thing, Canon could produce too.....

Nikon unveils $16K Nikkor Z 600mm F4 lens with built-in 1.4x teleconverter

This is definitively some lens, I´d like to see from Canon!!!!! What would it be easier to use this lens (like my 200-400&1.4) at birding? Just adding the extender by a switch
But cheaper :)

Review: Canon RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM by CameraLabs

But I see this lens as more of a travel lens, despite its ability to be used in studio. And that is where it has its most attraction for me. So small and light.
-Brian

I agree to this point. On a trip to Europe this summer I used the RF24-105L for walking around. When I checked in Lightroom I discovered images between 35-70mm were less than 5% and typically I wished I had more wide angle than 24mm and often 105mm was not enough. With the 70-200 f4 being so small (not much different than 24-105 retracted) combined with a 14-35mm f4 in my shoulder bag would have worked out better. When I check my entire library, 35-70 falls under 1.5%, but that is partly because EF100-400 II is my most used lens and at high frame rates for outdoor water sports my kids are involved in. I’m almost convinced, but to justify it I need to sell the 24-105 because I try to keep a cap on total lenses since it’s a hobby only.

Thoughts of R6 Owners who "upgraded" from a 5D4 (or similar DSLR, or an RP)?

Not a 5D series but went from 7d2 to an R6. So I can speak to the differences in the body. Love both bodies but find no drawbacks to the r6 as far as ergonomics and functionality go. I still reserve the 7d2 for really inclement weather though as it is simply built like a tank whereas the r6 is not as weather sealed or bullet proof. The step up in AF is phenomenal and as a wildlife photographer it makes it a better camera despite the reduction on pixels on target. The improvement in sensor performance is astounding but the 7d2 was never an amazing performing sensor so that is no surprise. I don't do video so have never experienced the issues of overheating that many complain about. Had a few lockups initially but the FW updates fixed that fairly quickly.

R5 Issues

I had to send my R5 in for assistance for some pixels burnt on the sensor and they told me that in addition to those, there are errors in the internal memory (??)

anything similar happened to anyone?

the R5 apart from the burnt pixels, seemed to work fine ...

Thanks
