Leaked: Full review of the Sony A7 IV goes live prematurely

I hear what you’re saying, buy with traditional BBF, the shutter button is only used for activating the shutter, and AF is activated only by using the AF/On and/or * buttons.

With my method the shutter button activates metering and AF, so if I quickly raise the camera and half-press the shutter it is instantly ready to fire, without having to also press the AF/On button. I find this much better for grabbed shots.

I like to keep the AF active as default, and use the AF/On to activate/deactivate animal-eye AF.

If I need to focus/recompose, I press the * button, which switches to smallest AF spot and locks focus distance.
All good, but I think that's your definition of BBF. Most folk who claim they don't like BBF simply don't use their thumb from what I've gathered. Regardless having eye AF on the shutter leads to problems so it's better as the second instantaneous choice as you've suggested.

[SOLVED] R5 firmware 1.4.0. - inconsistent light metering/histogram

Yes, Yes, Yes! I've found the solution !
Canon Poland and Canon Europe couldn't help me, but I was shore the problem is in aperture information.
I've bought the dandelion chip and it helps, but later I've found the cause of the problem, which is the menu card with minimum and maximum aperture setting.
When minimum aperture is set for example f 4.0 the problem is here. But when the minimum aperture is not set (f 1.0) everything works fine. Maximum aperture do not have influence for the issue so it is not important.
Great troubleshooting! Great persistence! Congratulations!

Industry News: Nikon posts another Nikon Z 9 teaser video, showcasing its 8K capabilities

NikonRumors just posted this on the Z9: https://nikonrumors.com/2021/10/20/...ly-leaked-picture-of-the-z9.aspx/#more-161850
Of the three quotes in bullet points, the third is the one that interests me the most: the price "is going to be a surprise, of the positive one".
Thanks for the heads up. What interested me most was: "The dual-pixel sensor will allow an EVF near equal to an optical viewfinder, faster frame rates, effectively no blackout, and no significant rolling shutter." Canon's dual pixel technology is a real plus, and if Nikon has it too then it's kudos to them. Maybe Nikon js buying its sensor from Canon ;).

Industry News: Sony officially announces the A7 IV and new flashes

It's a slow camera with so-so IQ. But better resolution than the R3... And miles behind the Z9

Wondering where the R1 is in development? Seems aside from the Z9 nothing exciting going on in the FF market.

Fuji MF now dominates with their 50s and 100s..... Leaving Hasselblad to figure out how to justify a $47,000 USD body.

Canon where are you?????? The R1 could fill gaps not only where the Z9 leaves off, but bridge the gap to the Fuji market.....

We sit... we wait....

I would expect it will be, spec-wise, a lot like a step up from the 1Ds you seem to loathe, in other words relatively lo-res. Why change the meaning of 1 series?

I was surprised the R3 turned out to be low res, actually. A "new" number could have been a high res monster,

Patent: Focal reducers for RF cinema applications

This is an odd one. This adapter won't help them sell more RF lenses.
Canon sells the C70 - a cinema camera with RF mount and S35 sensor. Seems to me like an indication Canon expects to sell RF lenses to cinema market, even if low end (the body is priced at $5,500) at this time.

So it they are going to make money it has to be selling S-35 bodies but we are continuously bombarded with messages that S-35 is over and Canon is moving to FF & Vistavision. Those rumors would seem to be exaggerated but I really wish Canon would produce a Fing road map so I can buy with confidence.
I think it would make sense for Canon to keep making low end cinema equipment with RF mount.

It’s back! The 5DayDeal Photography Bundle is all new for 2021 and it’s the best one yet

I got this 2 years ago but it had a lot more directed toward video. That year i got a lot of useful courses, training, luts, etc. This has been photographer specific for the last 2 years which isn't for me but have had good experience with this in the past.
There is a photo bundle and a video bundle each year....

Canon tech specialist talks the Canon EOS R3

That's about 127 pixels per inch.
Or a little less, counting cropping for the aspect ratio. On the other hand, there is a small margin. But that resolution doesn’t sound so awful considering the 20MP and 26MP files I normally print. I think the Epson software does a rather good job interpolating and in doling out the eight inks.

Patent: Canon RF 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM for APS-C sensor

As a PS, I just picked up an 18-135 nano USM for $200, including taxes and shipping. I gave away the STM version to a friend who needed it for wedding photography, and three months later just kept missing this focal range versatility. Was really trying to get rid of my EFS optics and prepare for an RF future, but... I mean, come on. Think about the utility of this 18-135, with excellent stabilization, probably 3-4 stops, completely silent operation for video/mic work, for $200! I'd have to spend ten times this to get anything even close in RF world. And I've got the 10-18, 55-250 STM's, and the 24, 40, 50, 85 and 100 macro. The value proposition here, if you don't need eye-tracking, is just unbelievable. Replacing this range with RF glass would probably cost $20k. The 80D sensor is just fine. Even 4k video is not all the rage everyone thought, because we're watching almost everything on tiny screens, and unless someone is a pixel peeper, they'll never know the diff. And if canon makes even a single APS-C body with all the fancy IBIS/BSI/Eye-Animal-etc tracking, and these lenses are compatible, we're talking another decade or more of utility at minimal cost. Am I wrong?

A few new Canon products have been cancelled due to the supply chain issues

The Cinema products are now less competitive also. Blackmagic, RED, GoPro.... you can go on and on.
Haters gonna hate. Maybe your babble will have some significance if Canon starts losing market share to their competitors.

Canon's loss to Nikon with the Z9 vs the R3...
What loss? Oh, you mean the one in your mind. No one really cares what goes on in there (if anything).

C70 videos on Canon USA YouTube

Sorry to bring up the subject, I have not figured out to the end, the supply of cameras has already started? Because I haven't been home for a long time and haven't been following my favorite site. I was on a trip, where I took many beautiful pictures, what I did not shoot, and nature and animals and cities. In general, I have a gallery full of two cards full of photos. I here I think maybe I should upload everything to YouTube and edit the video? How do you think? Only I need a quality converter. A friend advised using loader.to. I have not used it yet. Can anyone have other options?
