Even on an EOS R5 the RF-2X was much more than decent when combined with RF 100-500 when I was FL limited.

I feel youSame but not financially responsible. Maybe in 10-15 years for newer model
ThomasTH: Most of my tripod usage involves telephoto lenses, eclipses and the like...I get your point but I actually never shoot with low shutter speeds handheld. When I want to do that kind of photography then I use a tripod. So I actually would prefer the lower weight.
But I already have the RF 24-70 L anyway now so I don't care. I know it has its flaws but all in all it's the best zoom lens I have ever owned, I'm really happy with it.
I've been using the R5c next to an R8, R6II and a C70 for two years now. If you have any more questions, glad to help.I had a week now to go through what you said. I would like to thank you very much for this reply.
The R5c is a much better camera than my current, the R5.
I assumed that the R5c was just an answer to the R5 overheating by adding a vent, and never studied it actually.
I downloaded lots of footage from the net and studied the features of this camera the entire week or two.
If R5c mark II doesn't exist, I will go with the R5c. It delivers much more and resolves most of the issues I have complained about on my R5.
Thanks again for the reply.
Of course it depends a lot on the camera(s) you have, but IMHO that software sits in the small region between people having "simpler" needs, suually addressed by a webcam, and those who have more complex setups but also the HW/SW to manage that (and may not use only Canon cameras). While Canon in the past didn't make cheap AC power for its cameras - with USB power that may change now. Some, but not all, recent Canon bodies are powered by the computer and have a UVC mode builtin. So no software needed to use it as a webcam!
Ok, i will wait and see if there will be that R7 II or not, i prefer to get R7 II later than R7 now/soon and i will upgrade it later.I would suggest to make an R7 or R7 II part of your combo as it allows a bit more flexibility with adapter ( Speedbooster/Filter inlay/Gold Rim)
The R7 together with the dedicated smallrig cage is still smaller than most full frames and allows you to prepare with the rig for situations that differ from whats conviniend with a naked EOS.
In business and economics, two important questions are: "At what cost?" and "What are the alternatives?" I suspect that, in this case, the second question is the more important.I just wish Canon would be half as proactive as Sigma. Don't understand why they cannot make an RF-S 12 1.4 and sell it for a little more than Sigma. They would make the profit instead of Sigma.
It goes without sayingMy heart is just breaking thinking how much better the photos would have been with rf 35 1.2 and rf 200-500 f4... those so and sos...
Having some feedback would be good eg the haptic patent from some time ago.
I’m not a studio portrait photographer but wouldn’t the shutter noise help models with poses?
Absolutely but also note that this is total full-frame mirrorless body sales and not, like we see in store sales reports from Japan, how one particular model is doing. The one month data from one country in this case likely means the Z5II is doing well enough to pull the entire full frame mirrorless line up to the top position.

Not boycotting, still using my EF lenses including a couple of Sigmas. The real problem is these new lenses wont work on EF mount, so maybe now I am boycotting Sigma.Or just boycott the RF system until Canon changes its mind. Unfortunately few people are prepared to do that.
Canon's 2007 patent on sensor substrate separation (stacked sensors) is there for anyone to read. Decades ago. We're on tripple stacked sensors and 20 stops of Dynamic range image sensors, Canon and Apple.Wrong wrong wrong. Stacked devices also called SOCs were introduced in the 1990s. The same technology. Been around for yes, decades. The first dedicated "Stacked Sensor" work by Sony engineers began in 2008. Its 2025 by the way. Yes, the tech is over a decade old. Sony was not the only team by the way. Do some more research besides wikipedia.
Imagine how many lenses you could add to R8 with the same budget of the Sony offeringYou'd have a complete set, at least.
