So was this the big new codec release that everyone was waiting for? Is it just the addition of XF-AVC?

He had great difficulty focussing on small birds in darkish foliage close by whereas my wife with a 100-400mm II on a 5DSR at f/5.6 and I with a 400mm DO II on a 5DIV at f/4 had no difficulties. This is just a one-off report, but it goes to show that there is more to AF than nominal sensitivity in ev at the centre or the ability to track.
True and true, thanks Jack!Jack Douglas said:The only way to avoid insanity is to just make a decision on one of the many excellent cameras with the best choice of lenses and then avoid reading reviews, especially DPR if you've chosen Canon. CR is great for stirring up doubts if you read certain threads - after all "Canon is stupid".

Thank you for that update. And good to hear, that the issue could be fixed.[email protected] said:Sent camera in to Canon.
They found sensor assembly misalignment.
Spent yesterday shooting the fixed body, and it worked great.
Canon CPS was fast, accurate and went above the call again. They found a budding problem with the top dial, so they replaced that to free. Sent it back Fedex for free, to where I am shooting.

spent hours with the dock station and AFMA. still not satisfied.
sadly the new Tamron G2 70-200 is not sharp at 200mm 2.8
I wanted a second 70-200 for my second body. I guess I have to steak with canon

But even so, I guess the more we wait the better the sensor will beTalys said:tron said:So it seems 7DIII will be announced in 2019 which means that Canon will keep more or less the 5 year gap between the 7D systems. It will not be a problem if the improvements are on the same scale like the ones from 7D to 7DII.
The only thing the 5 year gap is tough on is people who have the need to buy something every year or two![]()

+1000So... this year, Nikon shooters took away the most prizes. Congratulations to them!
Thanks, I have coffee everywhere now. ;Dsyyeung1 said:DR will be so bad that I cannot push 25 stops. It's useless. So disappointed that Canon has crippled its products time and time again.

It was 1 trick pony that had technology that was easily beatable by the big boys in the camera world. Once the initial market was satisfied then that was it. I am NOT saying that the GoPro line are not good products, actually they are great products. It's just that it was a bad investment especially when it ran up so fast. This was another case of a 'fad' stock. People bought it was because it was cool without considering the facts of their business model.

How precarious to define a person based on corporate performance. Even if you get the camera right by owning Canon, can you say the same for your automobile, your dishwasher, and your smart-phone? They all have to be the best all the time, otherwise you must hang your head until you can make things right with the right purchase.
