The 10 Most Important Canon EOS Digital Cameras of All-Time

Over the last little while I have been going down some historical digital camera development rabbit holes. I have been around for most of the evolution of digital ILC cameras when I started out with the 300D in 2003. This website has also contributed to perhaps knowing more than one should about Canon camera models […]

How much do used body prices drop when refreshed? Like R6 MKII -> MKIII?

I ask because I'm considering trading up to an R7, but not at the prices it's running at now.

Do you think the R7 MKII will drop the used R7 MKI price, when a whole bunch of R7 shooters upgrade and sell them off all at once? By how much?

Has this happened with other bodies in the past? It doesn't look like the R6 MKII dropped that much, but I haven't been watching the market for long.

EOS R1 - Geo tagging

I geo-tag all my photos. The GPS has performed well until yesterday.
I took about 1000 photos across a 100 mile birding trip. Roughly 900 photos were locked to one single geo location, even though the photos were many miles apart.
I am always Mode 2 for GPS.
The camera was powered on all day.
I was outdoors all day, but some shots were from my car window.
I took about 600 photos in one area over a range of 1/4 mile. I then want to another location about 60 miles away, and took another 400 shots over a range of 1 mile. All 1000 photos were assigned the same geo-tag at a spot in the first location.
I contacted Canon CPS. All they said was that GPS signals may be interrupted or not available in some locations. No help.
I understand that there will be times that the satellite signal will be lost. But the camera should not record a geo-tag from data that is an hour old, as it did to me.
There should be at least a 5-minute time-out so that unrefreshed data is not used.
That would be called a firmware bug.
Anybody else out there have this experience???

Sigma 60-600 Equivalent

I guess this applies to all the major camera makers, but in the world of Wildlife Video there is really only one lens that people with normal budgets buy and use, the Sigma 60-600. I am kind of curious why Nikon/Canon/Sony etc simply cede this market to Sigma. Certainly they could make a video-centric zoom lens that is of better quality than the 60-600mm. It would be lighter and at least as fast. I'm sure they could make it sharper. Such a lens could be sold for quite a bit more than the Sigma, people would easily pay $5k or $6k for such a lens. Right now its basically the 60-600 at around $2k, or the canon Cine-Servo 50-1000 which is about $70k. Nothing really in between. If they made something like a 60-600 with a built in 1.4x tc, they could easily charge up to about $10k and they would be very well received. Even without a built in TC people would easily pay $5k or more for such a lens in their native mount. I wonder if it's just not a big enough market for anyone to pursue.

Will the Fujifilm X-T6 and Canon EOS R7 Mark II face off in the 2026 APS-C Showdown?

Rumor on the street is that Fujifilm is also readying their X-T6 for release later this year, rumored for September. This will follow Canon's expected release of Canon's R7 Mark II, expected to be put sometime in the first half of this year. This will set off an interesting comparison between two APS-C contenders. I […]

R6III + Godox Flashes = Error 70 --- anyone else experience this problem?

Hello everyone.
Ever since getting the R6 Mark III about a month and a half ago, I've been having this problem happen with close to 100% repeatability.

Whenever I use more than one Godox Flash. And trigger both of them. The camera freezes, usually stuck displaying the moment of shutter release, sometimes I got an error 70. With testing I've managed to narrow it down to the specific scenario of where the focus mode is in SERVO.

So whenever the camera is in SERVO, and I am triggering more than one GODOX flash the camera freezes. Every time.
I'm using the latest GODOX V480c V100c and X3c trigger. In various combinations their effect is always the same.
As soon as I turn on a second flash while in SERVO, the camera freezes on the image - it gets saved in the camera,
though I've had a few that appear to not have a proper date.

I wrote to Godox - they said they don't have the camera for testing yet. And thanked me for the feedback.
Amazing.
What I am afraid of, is that this is some kind of new Canon cripple hammer thing.
Though I'm sure they can fix it with firmware updates. As soon as they get to it, hopefully soon.

Has anyone else gotten the R6III camera and has encountered or can test out this issue?

Thanks.
