We have a countdown for the event on July 9!

I have been told that there is one “major new feature coming in the EOS R5 for photographers”, unfortunately, I’ve spent the last couple of days trying to find out what that means with little success.
We have seen some bold marketing claims in the past, so I don’t want to get too exciting, but Canon has definitely kept the stills photography crowd wondering what’s coming in the EOS R5.
I wish I had more, but July 9, 2020, isn’t too far off, so we’ll know by then as the worst-case scenario.
I have been told that Canon will be doing simultaneous live streams in the USA and Europe for the announcement of the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 on July 9, 2020, if true, I suspect we’ll be seeing a teaser for the event very soon.
The same source claims that the RF teleconverters will work with any RF lens (I’m not sure about this claim). I’m also not sure if things will work differently with adapted EF lenses.
I have also been told that there will be more “cool” adapters and lens add-ons coming later this year. I wasn’t told any more than that.
Canon Inc. announced today that the company has developed the world’s first1 single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) image sensor with signal-amplifying pixels capable of capturing 1-megapixel images. SPAD image sensors are ideal for such applications as 2-dimensional cameras, which capture and develop still image and video in an extremely short span of time. These sensors also hold potential for use in 3-dimensional cameras due to their ability to obtain information about the distance between them and a subject as image data.
A SPAD sensor is a uniquely designed image sensor in which each pixel possesses an electronic element. When a single light particle, called a photon, reaches a pixel it is multiplied—as if creating an “avalanche”—that results in a single large electrical pulse. The ability to generate multiple electrons from a single photon provides such advantages as greater sensitivity during image capture and high precision distance measurement.
The SPAD image sensor...

There’s a chance more will be added to this list. I am not sure when the RF 50 f/1.8, RF 85 f/2, and RF 70-200mm f/4L IS are going to be available, and if they’re going to be development announcements or not. I do expect the new lenses to be released at different times.
I am told that a firmware update for the Canon EOS R will be coming sometime before the end of July.
As far as we can tell, the firmware update will be for bug fixes.
On the topic of the EOS R, a separate source told us we can expect to see another Canon EOS R price drop before the end of September, likely priced at $1499 USD. The camera will remain current to the EOS R lineup into 2021 we were also told.

Olympus Corporation (“Olympus”) and Japan Industrial Partners, Inc. (“JIP”) hereby announce that today, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding to carveout Olympus’s Imaging business to a new company (“NewCo”) and subsequently transfer its shares to a fund managed, operated or otherwise handled by JIP (the “Transaction”).
After the due diligence and further discussions and negotiations, the parties are aiming to sign a legally- binding definitive agreement for the Transaction (the “Definitive Agreement”) by September 30, 2020. We will promptly make a further announcement if any matters relating to the Transaction that needs further announcement to occur.
1. Background and Purpose of the Transaction
Olympus’s Imaging business began with the manufacture and sale of a camera using the photographic lens Zuiko in 1936. Through innovative technology and unique product development capabilities, Olympus has developed and launched various products, aiming to contribute to...
Both the Pixma Pro-10 and Pro-100 are quite long in the tooth, and it looks like Canon is readying a new A3+ (13×19) printer.
Details are scarce beyond it having a new design language and LCD screen, but expect the new printer to be announced alongside the Canon EOS R5, Canon EOS R6, and new lenses on July 9, 2020.
Bryan over at The-Digital-Picture has completed his review of the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM, a lens that will likely become quite popular with Canon EOS R6 buyers when the grab the camera with the lens included.
This is the first f/7.1 lens we’ve seen from Canon, which may be offputting to some, but for a lot of shooters, it’ll be a worthwhile trade-off for the lightweight design and affordable price.
From The-Digital-Picture:
Lightweight, compact, plus very low priced is a formula for mediocre lens image quality at best. Especially with the cost added by the long focal length range and great image stabilization system, incredible image quality was not anticipated. Let’s take a look at what the testing shows.
With a wide-open aperture, the center of the frame image quality is reasonable and similar over the entire focal length range. Of...
