I'm helping set up an event where I would love to stake video with my T3i, and stream/broadcast it to 2 different TVs in the house.

Something like an EyeFi card is close, but I don't think it lets me do video.

All the talk of phone cameras eating into the camera market; lets strike back and put a phone into the 1dx3. Big body with tons of spare room for the minimal electronics required. Ergonomically somewhat larger than ideal but the image quality would destroy the competition. I offer this brainstorm for Canon's use, free of all royalty claims.

I bought a little Godox TT685c speedlite and having some issues with underexposed images in ETTL-II mode on Canon 6D.

regardless of the camera mode used: AV, Tv, M, on camera flash or remotely triggered by X1T-C in radio slave ettl-II mode– makes no difference!
I tried many lenses and result is the same – underexposed images, badly. it almost as if pre-flash has never fired or camera has not enough time to analyse the pre-flash and set the exposure correctly.

If I bounce flash of the ceiling, underexposure even stronger. Shooting into soft box in ettl mode results in up to 3 stops of underexposure depending on how far the subject is located...

I found a workaround:
I push FEL (*) button each time prior to the shutter button release in order to force pre-flash and camera to record the correct exposure value... it works but...

Image with the same framing on tripod taken with FEL button pressed before taking the image is always perfectly exposed and without FEL button pressed can be up to 3 stops underexposed.

The necessity to push FEL button for every shot in ETTL-II mode drives me a bit uneasy

Godox TT685c firmware v.3.1, Canon 6D ( 1.1.7 firmware).
Camera works well with Canon, Godox ad360 II and Yongnuo speedlites in ETTL-II mode and exposure always applied correctly.
is this a known issue with Godox TT685c flash, firmware bug or the unit seems to be faulty?

[FIXED] it turns out to be the "user Issue". I failed to confirm that set of batteries I used were fully charged. and they were indeed at low charge level! but what is interesting - no low charge indicator came up on the speedlite screen. the rest is just logical. underexposure were the direct result of camera and speedlite incorrect ETTL interactions at such a low battery levels. forced preflash via FEL button set exposure levels correct though.
note to yourself: use the GODOX PB960 battery pack (as I should anyway) or swap rechargable AA batteries as soon as underexposed ETTL shots detected. pay close attention to the presence of the low charge indicator on the speedlite's LCD screen.

On camera flash is inherently pretty awful, but for some events work there is little choice, so you have to make the best of it. I've tried a few, from homemade bounce cards, Stofen, the long forgotten Gary Fong Whaletail, Gary Fong Lightsphere, an eBay clone Flash Bender and for the past few years have been moderately satisfied with two Jo Demb Flash Diffuser Pro's which are now close to being worn out. http://www.dembflashproducts.com/products/flash-diffuser/

The fact is, none of them represent the Holy Grail of on-camera flash diffusers. I've looked at the MagMod MagBounce system and wonder if it is truly better than anything else. The MagMod system looks impressive but gets expensive if you tick the boxes for accessories, particularly as anything I update to is X2 as I'll always be working with two bodies at events.

I try to keep a lookout for what is on offer, but there's always a chance I've overlooked a miraculous release from some amazingly inventive critter...

Hi guys!

I've been using Godox ad360, Profoto B1 and now I'm borrowing a ad600 whilst waiting for my Broncolor Siros 800L to arrive. My question is;

Why on earth does every picture using an Off Camera Flash result in frontfocus?? Any lens is the same. Everything is spot on as soon as I turn the trigger off and take shot without flash. Only option to get correctly focuses shots with OCF is by using LV, and I'm so tired of this.....

I have been using a speedlite 580 EXII for years and in order to get better wireless transmissio, I bought a set of YN-622C transceivers for wireless TTL (yongnuo). This works perfectly with my EX II 430, but when I tried it on my 580 EXII, the flash fires as it should, but as soon as more than half of full power is requested, the flash starts hissing for about three seconds and the red light in the front seems to flash out a random pattern during that hissing. When I put the 580 on my camera directly, I have no issues.

Things I tried which had no effect:
- another camera
- another receiver
- another transmitter
- putting the 580 on the YN 622 as pass-through, the 580 still hissed and front led remained lit
- changed batteries in speedlite, camera transmitter and receiver

When I use the test fire button on the YN-622 with the speedlite on top of it (pass-through) and put the speedlite in full power, the effect seems to disappear until you press the test button again. if you do that within the three seconds, then the hissing and flickering returns as if it is leaking power during the recharging phase and the YN-622 is routing it back to the speedlite.

Google didn't give me any results, does anybody here know what might be happening and is my 580 dying on me or are the transmitters just not compatible?

Anything? I don't like TC's or zooms, and I haven't found anything over 200mm that is appealing and affordable. There are fans of the Canon 100-400 II, the 150-600's, The Sigma 120-300. But not me - I want a 300 or 400 or 500mm prime, or an internally-focusing zoom (longer than 200mm).

I note that Sigma is (kind of) trending longer. Is it unreasonable to expect Sigma to upgrade their 300 2.8 and 120-300 2.8 soon? I doubt that those would cannibalize their new 100-400 or the current 150-600's...

I wonder whether this topic will energize the '.... is doomed!' crowd.

This is a 18-105mm f/4-5.6 With Built-in Telconverter, which isn’t a big departure, expect that the TC is to make the wide angle, wider!</p>

<p>The EF-S 35mm f/2.8 IS STM Macro hasn’t started shipping yet, while a very neat looking lens, it’s not exactly the “fast” prime people have been looking for from Canon for APS-C shooters.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/canon-ef-lenses-rumours-and-news/">Northlight Images</a> does say that they’ve been told to expect a “good” EF-S prime in the future.</p>

I recently reported a quick comparison of the Sigma 100-400mm on my 5DSR with shots of a nearby flagpole. The results weren't quite as good as my Canon 100-400mm II. My local dealer got in another copy today and lent it to me for more extensive testing as I had a view to buying. I took shots of my favourite chart and compared it with my 100-400mm II and also my Sigma 150-600mm C on my 5DSR. Here are 100% crops from the centre at 10.5m distance. The Sigma (top) is not as good as its big brother at 400mm (bottom) or the Canon (middle).

(Quick disclosure: I contacted Canon tech support, they got out the same body and lens, used my settings, and saw NO jiggling. Right away the tech said, "You've got a problem with the IS motor." So, I know it's not normal or a characteristic of the "new" IS in the new 24-105mm!)

Has anybody ever had a lens with a jiggly IS?

(I'm having some horrendous luck trying to get my hands on a fully functional ef 24-105mm f/4 IS II. The latest one was very sharp and had accurate AF (unlike the previous one sent back because it was super soft and had so much CA it was like a multiple exposure in overcast light).)

Unfortunately, with the latest one, with the camera body held diagonally (you don't have to ask why it got in that position if you chase toddlers with your camera), the IS would jiggle like Jello before settling down. It did not have the typical snappy, tiny jerk before "locking" in; it would engage and the whole frame would jiggle for a moment longer than IS normally takes to engage. Worked fine in landscape or portrait orientation, but worrisome jiggling diagonally.

This was actually my THIRD try to get the 24-105mm, but the first reject had nothing to do with Canon--only with UPS, which attempted to deliver a badly crushed carton. (Fortunately they needed a signature and I was home and refused the delivery.) Then the one that had to be out of spec with sharpness and CA, and now this one that is much sharper than expected (after reading reviews) but with the bad IS.

Btw, serial number was 53xxx..., and the firmware is now up to version 2.0.0.

So, any other bizarre IS behavior recently?
