Diversification fuels Canon’s record revenue projections for 2024

Canon released its third quarter financials a few days ago, and while there's a lot to unpack there was one line that lept out at me.

R3 AF modes question, is this not possible?

Hi!

I’ve just gotten an R3 and the AF-system seems very different from my old R5.

I had my R5 set up to directly select AF-area/mode with one button. So, I could cycle through single point and whole area tracking-with a starting single point. So when for example a bird in a tree couldn’t be located, I would switch to single point with one button push. I used dual BBF in combination with this.

With the R3 all points are just starting tracking and to use single point I have to go to Q (or custom button) to turn off tracking and it takes way too much time.

Is there no way to switch between single point and AF-tracking/subject tracking with a single starting AF-point with the R3?

I wanted to come up with a snarky title and some came to mind, but in a way, I just feel a little bad for Ricoh. I wish they decided to join in on the fun with mirrorless. They make some great innovative cameras, and the mirrorless world would be better with them.

Bald Eagles

First post of birds and got lucky with them. We were flying past on the road and saw the adult. Took a couple of pics, and then he flew off into the trees. Found him again 100 yards down the road. Took a couple of LONG shots without realizing the juvenile was also in the pics.

Third-party repair shops may continue beyond Canon dates as they stockpile parts from donor cameras. If you're looking to purchase used gear, you
