BG-e11

I am having issues with my grip. I have used it quite a bit and it has worked just fine until recently. During a wedding the battery indicator was flashing showing both my batteries were almost dead. I found it strange since I had only been shooting for about 3 hours and normally they last me all day. Later after I charged both batteries it did it again with fresh batteries. Going into the menu to battery info it said they were both at 100% even with the indicator flashing that they were about to go dead. Sometimes it will show a message that the camera cannot communicate with the batteries. After pulling out batteries and disconnecting the grip and putting everything back together it usually works fine for a while. Do you think the grip is going bad or there is a connection issue?

450D vs 5D MKII AF system

There is a good chance that I’ll be upgrading from my Canon EOS 450D to the Canon EOS 5D MKII early next year, although I am waiting to hear what people have to say about the 6D.

My concern is with what I have read about the AF system in the 5D MKII, but then I thought is there much of a difference compared to the AF system in my 450D, both have 9-point AF points. Does anyone have any experience/know if there would be much difference between the two systems?

Thanks! :)

M42 Adapter (AF Confirm) with T4i = error 01

Hello there

I am new here ;)

I am hobby photographer (only learning) and I sell photo acessories here in Brazil.

A client of mine has a t4i cam (mine is an old 350d) and I sold him a M42 adapter with AF confirm chip, but chip gives error 01 at the camera.

I sold a lot of rings and it´s the first time an error like this occurs, i checked the same ring with my 350d and it worked fine with no problem at all.

He even had another ring (just like mine) and it was having the same problem, and I looked everywhere to see about this, and found nothing

Is there a new chipped ring for t4i or is it something firmware like or the camera it self does not accept those kind of rings ? Or if there is any work-around or fix for that problem, I would appreciate.

tks :)

Working with film

I have aproblem,

Im starting a photography class in my high school next year, but the first year is film only.
I want to find a cheap canon film slr that is a descent camera, but won't break the bank, and the price won't hurt me if I dont use the camera for a long time.
I need to make sure it has a canon ef mount, or else I can't use my lenses.

Upgrade from 40D to 5d mkii

Is the 5d mkii focusing better or worse than the 40d for birds in flight? I understand that the center point is more accurate, but is it faster than the 40d? I only shoot birds about 25% of the time, I use for BIF a canon ef 400mm L f5.6 and for stationary birds an old Heinz Kilfitt 400mm f4.0 manual focus lens as well. The other 75% of the time I know the 5d mkii would fit me perfectly.

I am happy with my focusing on the 40d with the smaller aperture (f8.0-f11.0) required for birding. As long as it is at par I will be happy.

I understand that the 1dx 1dmkiv and 5d mkiii are better cameras. I have just installed a new furnace new air conditioning and have completed a basement reno(aka I have no cash flow), I am finding the cheap price of the 5d mkii very tempting, And I would like to know if anyone else has made the switch from the 40d?

Amatuer Upgrade - T2i to 1D3?

Hello all. First post on the forum. I have been reading and searching though for a while. I am a hobbyist looking to upgrade my camera body (currently T2i). My primary use of the camera is shooting ice hockey and walking around during travel / holiday. So, I am looking for something with better / faster AF performance and tracking and reasonable / fixable low noise at high ISO. Most of my ice hockey shots are ISO 1600 - 3200. My first thought was a 7D, but given where we are in the product cycle, I think it would be more advantageous to wait. I figured I could get a used / cleaned 1D mark III for relatively equal price to a refurb 7D and then see in a about a half year if I want to upgrade to the 1D mark iv or a 7D mark II / 70D (whatever canon has plans for). I shoot a 70-200 2.8L for sports fyi.

Looking for advice from anyone with experience in shooting ice hockey particularly with 7D vs 1D3 vs 1D4 etc.

Thanks in advance.

Sony Rx-1

Just curious - how interested are you guys in purchasing this camera as a secondary backup to your DSLR? If not this specific sony rx-1 how about a canon full frame compact camera?

Is there a market for it? What's a price you'd be willing to pay?

While the rx-1 looks and sounds amazing - I don't know that I could stomach spending 3k on a fixed lens camera. The idea behind it is awesome tho. I'm reading lots of rumors of the nex-9 (or whatever it ends up being) that will be Sony's FF mirrorless camera entry.

Now that I might pick up.

Kinda interested what everyone's thoughts were on this.

Updrade a 550D to ...? Advice needed please

Hi all,

This is my first post so please be kind :).

I purchased my first Canon 550D in December last year, it was a complete upgrade from my Nikon D40...

I am a keen wildlife photographer and have purchased two lenses the 100-400mm L and 70-200mm F4L, this has taken my pictures to another level , i now feel that i need to upgrade the body.

From what i have read online i am considering getting a 50D secondhand - is it worth it swapping from my 550D? I dont use the video mode...

Not looking to spend much more than £500 ish.. so some ideas would be great.

Thanks

To IS or not?

I 'll be shooting some tennis games (and by some I mean a lot) this weekend with the 100-400. I'll be using speeds in the 1/1000 - 1/4000 range. Is there any reason I should leave IS on? Even mode 2 won't be useful in this situation, so why not turn it off and save some battery life too?
Your thoughts?

Any recommendations for how best to use an Arctic Butterfly?

A bought an Arctic Butterfly (724 SB) to rid my camera of the Canon-supplied extras it shipped with (really, they couldn't clean this before shipping it!?). I seem to have successfully moved the dust particles around on the sensor, but I'm not sure I've removed any of them.

I've made two passes, both dry. Would getting some cleaning solution on the bristles help? Or are two passes too few (do I need more patience)? Is there a different product I should try, instead?

As I'm completely new to this, any insights, comments, or suggestions are most welcomed :)

Thanks.

Canon 5Dc as an entry for FF? yay or nay?

5Dc as an entry level FF.

  • Yay

    Votes: 32 53.3%
  • Nay

    Votes: 13 21.7%
  • NO.

    Votes: 15 25.0%

I know I've asked this before, but I kind of want a solid answer. I really do want to go FF but seeing as a used 5Dc is the only real alternative I have, I'm asking if it's actually worth it. I'm looking to keep my collection strictly EF glass because I do want to upgrade to a 5Dmk3 one day. I understand the limitations of a 5Dc (sluggish feel, horrible LCD, slow FPS, average AF) Is the 5Dc still a trust worthy FF camera that offers the basic needs of an amatuer street, landscape, and portrait photographer?
