I just purchased a 5D MKIII

I photograph high end watches in a light box.

Ideally I am thinking a 50 or 60 mm

What will work will with the D5 and still work with the autofocus?

I have heard the Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact-Macro is a bit dated really.
The Canon 60mm f/2.8 EF-S Macro does not mount in the 5D.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Hi everyone,

my name is Dotun and I'm new to the forum.

1dx owners, have you noticed the colors of your raw file look a little too cool and not consistent with color from other canon bodies? if you see the same what steps have you taken in Lightroom to bring its color to look closer to lets say the 5d mark 3 or 1ds. I currently own the 5d II, 5d III and 1dx.

I am mostly doing weddings and engagement sessions and usually just use 70-200 2.8II on 5D3 and I use 35L on 5D2. I am on the fence about selling 35 to buy the new 24-70? I am not in love with having to be spot on to get perfect sharp image with 35 with aperature below 3.2 when doing a pressure shoot like a wedding. I know these lens are different beasts, but wondering if anyone who has experience with both lens can tell me why I should make the switch.

Beside the obvious more reach or the 35 have ability for lower aperature below 2.8.

A month ago, I asked this forum for tips on any way to get the tripod/head I wanted to buy, cheaper

As no other way was found, I bought it from RRS website, directly, at full price
Paid postage, VAT and import duties, in full
It hurt much less after I opened the box

In my opinion, already having photographic gear, costing the best part of 6K, and investing almost 300-500 hours yearly in my photographic hobby, I have no hesitation in saying that I am glad that I bought that ultimate tripod combination
And, cost less than a set of alloy wheels and should prove more useful
There will hopefully not be any need to upgrade, for a very long time (perhaps until light motorised tripods are invented by Apple)

Of course, some may think that the price is not a good value, or other makes will be better, like a Gitzo
However, if there will always be a single right answer that should apply to everyone, we should expect to find one make and model of cars, owned by everyone
We don't. Because people differ in their needs, tastes and amount their are willing to spend

How to "possibly" get it 30 - 40% cheaper, for Europe residents:
If you postponed your purchase, until your next trip to USA "assuming you that will go there of course", you can get it delivered to your hotel within 24-48 hours
1- Postage is free for USA addresses. I would have saved 10%
2- No duties or VAT. I would have saved 30%
In my understanding, which could well be wrong; after you use it while you are in the USA, it becomes 2nd hand, thus no VAT or duty (I could be wrong here), when you arrive at the airport. Of course, you must declare them and leave it to customs to decide
Naturally, you will NOT need to bring with you the packaging. I heard that some people post them to themselves in UK, and I am not sure why!! :-\
Now, hopefully, no further duties at UK borders, as it is not new stuff anymore, with all the mud and dirt that you have collected on the legs

Hello all I have been wondering as of late that everyone seems to be on the full frame band wagon, I see the benefit to them but for wildlife crop is still better, I am wondering is canon going to make a new better crop camera to replace the 7D and 1Dmk4 as there seems to be a big hole in the market right now.

It seems odd that that canon does not have a camera that can focus at F8 I was thinking this probably wont last long as they just redesigned there 2x extender I am sure that cost them a bit in R@D and doubt they would do that if they where not going to have a camera that would work with it in the future.

On another note with regard to image processors do they help lower noise in raw files or does that only apply to jpegs when canon says the DIGIC 5+ has 20% lower noise ect.

</strong>I finally got my hands on the Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II. I’ll be using the lens for the weekend and then it’ll be thrown into the rental fleet.</p>
<p>My first impression of the lens is very positive. I love the feel, weight and size of the lens. I actually have an event this weekend that I’ll be shooting, so I can put the lens through the paces in a real world situation. I’ll have it paired with the EOS-1D X, apparently they were born to be together.</p>

<p>I still get a lot of people asking why the lens has no IS. I’m of the belief a medium range lens such as this doesn’t require it. This lens is going to be most used in event photography, or portrait and that kind of thing. If you’re looking for a walkaround tourist lens, then the EF 24-105 f/4L IS exists for that purpose. When you see the ISO performance of the EOS-1D X, that’s another reason not to care much about IS. That’s just my opinion!</p>

Hey guys I have a lovely Canon EOS 60D
but have for som time i haven`t could open the on camera flash!! (approximately 2 week ago)
About 2 months ago I updated the firmware to 1.1.0

when I try to go into the "Build in flash menu" it says that the menu can`t be shown because an externel flash it mounted..

Ftr. I have a flash.. Canon Speedlite EX580II and ther isn`t any problems with that.

Pleas help.. Thank you

'Karkonosze mountains shrouded in legend' it's a project which was made for 4 days near KArpacz. I used 19854 photos to make this film. All material was made based on system Eos (Canon company). It allowed to gain excellent quality of material. I'm giving you only small preview today. Full film will be on the beginning of September.

In the following attachments you will note an untouched portrait straight out of the Canon 5D Mark III and then a post processed (in CS5 and LightRoom) which took about another half hour. I used 2 Elinchrom 400 watt strobes at almost the lowest setting which was 2.2 to achieve a 6.3 and 1/100th light meter read at ISO 50

Does anyone have any suggestions with an older audience how to capture better portraits without all the red areas as in the untouched photo? Am I perhaps too close with the strobes? The 2 strobes were about 6 feet high (client seated), facing downward angle of about 45 degrees and approximately 16 inches form subject. Each strobe was placed about 6 feet apart at 45 degree angles

Hope that helps to describe my setup to offer suggestions. Thanks in advance.

The new stabilized Tamron is something I'll be watching out for in the test venues, I'm hoping it will perform well enough for MY needs, and at a low enough price that I can sell my fabulous Canon v2 L lens and dump the 5D2 it sits on and use the cash for something else.

I like the IQ of the older non-stabilized Tamron but it's kinda poor in the AF department, certainly no threat to Canon or Nikon's lenses of similar spec. MF is not the easiest with the short throw but easier than with the sticky-feeling Nikon focus ring. Canon's lens, just works like it should and is wicked sharp.

I don't understand how Canon does international marketing. Several post have said that Canon is now offering a "Professional Kit" of 5D III plus 24-70 f/2.8 II in Australia. Will this ever be offered in the US? If so, when? And if so, how can I sign up?

Will be shooting at a rock/orchestra concert in 2 days time, besides the 1DX in spot metering mode, what lens choice should I go for? I was going for 70-200 f/2.8, 8-15 mm fisheye and 24 mm TS-E for creative shots. Would there be a particular need for the 400 mm for close tight shots of performers?
