Just rented a copy of the version 2 and for some reason it's only opening to f/4, as opposed to f/3.5. Tried on a couple cameras. Anyone ever had this happen??
Mine opens to f/3.5, although I don't often use it wide open. Any chance you have your exposure increment set to 1/2-stop instead of the default 1/3-stop (on both cameras)?
If the lens is faulty, the rental company should send a replacement (overnight), or offer a refund if it's too late for your shoot. Might want to give them a call.
Too late to call. Leaving tomorrow morning and it's already after 9. Def not an exposure increment problem. Very weird, wouldn't have ever thought to even check for this.

Dear Jesse.
My 4 months old TS-E 24 mm F/ 3.5 L MK II do not have any problem, and can open at F= 3.5, Plus super sharp as the Best Canon Lens that I have.
Good luck
