Hi. I read so many different views on the combination. Everything from low light to not "locking on" at 300mm. Does anyone use this setup and does it work? If not then you are saving me 250 Euro so thanks in advance :-)
I need this work on a regular basis and not depending on certain factors.

On the Kenko site it specifies "With the PRO 300 1.4x, DGX full AF operation is possible with camera lenses having a maximum aperture of F4 or brighter. The same light and contrast requirements apply." Does this mean that from over 200mm you have to use manual focus?
On the compatibility list it states that the lens is supported and does not mention the aperture. I wonder also if it is slow on focusing on moving objects.

Maybe you should state what camera body you're using :-p ?

On my 60d the combination with single af point is noticeably less precise than the bare lens, so forget about single point tracking (bad on the 60d anyway). Multi af point is better, but @f8 it does struggle in low light. All in all it's a good tc anyway because it's cheap for the resulting reach and the iq is better than cropping. Just don't expect wonders or pro grade iq, if you really want top results @300mm*1.4*1.6 =672mm go for a 5d3 with a $10000 lens...

...my advice: Try it yourself, if you get it from Amazon or similar you have plenty of time to try it and return it. Not that the tc has issues with the 5d3 and 6d, Kenko advises against using it until they do an update.

Hi. At the moment I am using a 450D but this will change shortly to either a 70D or a 7D.

In the 70d case I'd say wait until it's confirmed the new cameras are compatible with the Kenko tc, you cannot update the fw and Canon has a habit of somehow screwing 3rd party manufacturers (purely by coincidence, mind you...). But if you get a 7d1 it'll be a nice combination, it does f8 af with the Kenko and multipoint af is easier vs. 60d.
