7D vs 5D3 noise @ ISO400

An exceptional image does not equal exceptional image quality. A 7D is capable of capturing an exceptional image, especially under ideal conditions; however, it has never had exceptional image quality. There are more factors than just image quality benefits when comparing 7D to newer full frame tech - color rendition, depth of focus, focus points, etc., which all ultimately alter the final product.

Our 7D sits nicely on the TV stand, occasionally being dusted off to test new lenses, used as the occasional backup, and as a training tool. Overall, I'm more inclined to crop our full frame images and enjoy the other benefits provided by the 5D3 rather than utilizing the extra reach of the 7D.

Everything said about equivalence, etc., is correct but it is also a well kept secret that the 7D has problems with blue skies, even for a crop body. The crop Nikon cameras are much better in that respect.
