Waterbucks in the evening light in Mana Pools. The light in these forests is quite unique.

200-400 f4L IS 1.4x, 1/640s, f5.6, ISO1000, handheld

Love this Image, probably one of the best you've posted.
Thanks Edward,
Yes, it might well be. At least I am very happy with it :)

In these forests, there is a bluish tungsten like light, which gives a fantastic ambience. In this image, it feels a bit like looking into a cathedral. I highly recommend Mana Pools for anyone interested in nature, wildlife and light.

Thanks Roo.

I´ve been told that you need to use faster shutter speeds with the 5DSR, due to its high resolution. And that is of course a valid point. A one over 2xfocal length sec has been recommended. For various reasons, I did not have the luxury of enough light and a tripod on a safari recently, so I had to push.

This leopard, which was far from easy to spot, is shot at 1/80s, f5.6, ISO1250, with the 200-400 f4L IS 1.4x @560mm, handheld. The image is cropped about 50%.

I received my 5DSr a few days ago and unfortunately, things have been extremely busy, so I've only had a few minutes to spend with the camera. I have not had a chance to run AFMA on any of my lenses yet.

Today I had a few free minutes before the family woke up and went out with the 5DSr and 300 f/2.8 II. The light was bad, heavy overcast and light rain, but I shot a some ducks and geese who were nearby. Certainly none of the shots were keepers, but I was amazed by the detail! This is a 100% crop, I was maybe 20-25 feet away.

Hi all - received my 5DS a few days ago and tried it out at a family wedding on Saturday! Shooting with it was a wonderful experience. There was a bit of a scare with the pictures not copying properly onto the SD backup card though, I'll have to look into it.

For now here is the preview

Test shot with the Canon 5Ds R & TS-E 90mm @ ƒ/5.6 1/60 ISO 800. The CR2 file was opened with DPP 4 and converted into a JPEG. My standard DPP settings: sharpness +4, contrast +1, saturation +1. That's it.

Big Vic, the largest elephant bull in Mana Pools.

Lovely Image Elder, and I agree, let's hope the Poachers don't get him before Nature, unfortunately his chances are less than 50/50, we are fortunate indeed to be able to see these Animals as we do, in particular to get the chance to let our children see them where they belong, in the Wild, in 50 years ?? probably not.
