Buy a new body in Taiwan and bring back to the US

I’m in Taiwan for three days. And the R6 mkiii is sold at $2160~ after tax removed.

It seems like I wouldn’t have to pay taxes dues on the way home (not sure how true that is after the tariff confusion).

Living in California that would mean a whopping $930~ difference/savings.

All my canon cameras have been extremely reliable and if I base on experience I wouldn’t expect something different here w the R6 mkiii.

What could go wrong? Almost a grand in savings isn’t nothing… is that a no brainer? Anyone done that been there who regretted it after the fact?

Purchased my 10D in Dallas and brought it to Europe. Had zero issues.
Bought my 5D3 in Europe and exported it to China (I could deduct the VAT). Had zero issues.
The only potential for issues is if the wireless frequencies table are region-locked so you get issues when you bring it to California. A quick read of the online manual did not surface any problems.

Update. Done it. Bought it at an official Canon store in Taipei. $2150~ total cost. Kept it in the box with everything.

Landed in the us. Declared it on the custom form. Was asked how much by the border officer. Mentioned around $2k. And was let go.
