ND grad at top 3/4 + polarisor

Very good balance. Have you used or tried the B+W grad filters? Are they as good as the ones you are using?

The only grads I have are Cokin. Have some Hoya pro polarisors for went I go travelling but that is all. I dont use filters as much as when as I was using film as it can be done in pp - except the pollarisor and the big stopper grads

I really love this focal lenght for indoor portraits! Perfect for my use anyway. This was shot with my 5D mkII and 135L at f2.8, 1/125 sec and ISO 1250...

Re: Canon EF135mm f/2L USM

Time for a confession. Part of the reason I bought my 135mm f/2L was because I was going to be getting married and I didn't like any of the local photographers in my area. They charged too much and didn't offer particularly great packages. So, I decided to take the money I normally would've spent on a wedding photographer and buy myself this lens -- mine, to keep, forever. My dad, I figured, could take good enough photos.

Well, the big day was last month and I must say -- I'm quite happy with my decision!

Next week, I am shooting a VB tourney for 2 days, and I am renting a 1D Mark IV as a trial...trying to decide 1D MIV vs 1DX.....

You wont want to hand back the 1D4 ...

Wow you are not kidding - just started last PM for practice. The ISO range difference is unbelievable c/w 7D. Indoor, no flash, no problem.
Took a walk in my neighborhood last night before a snowfall (so no contrast on the ground), with only moonlight, and got interesting / usable handheld shots at 1/15 and 1/30.

Shot indoor volleyball then indoor soccer (my kids are very busy), and paired the 135 with both the 7D and the ID IV - didn't have time to process yet but first glance I liked what the viewfinder shows, but my wife is not gonna be happy (neither is LENSRENTAL) - I may not return it :)

I will shoot similar shots this weekend with the 135 using both bodies for a real-life comparison and post next week.

About 2 hours total exposure. Astro-Modified 450D with 135mm f/2 at f/2. Astronomik CLS and H-alpha filters used separately. This is cropped.

Dude holy crap, that is AWESOME. What part of the country are you in?

I've been trying to find a telescope that I can use in conjunction with my DSLR, but all the sites get pretty overwhelming...so many choices and I can't figure out what's what. I've looked at the Meade, Nextar and Celestron I think, do you have any recommendations?

I'm in Swindon, UK. Light pollution is quite bad here so there's a lot of processing required to get around it as best I can. There's still a LOT of improvement that could be done there. I really could use a longer focal length, but the 200/2 is a bit outside my budget, and I'm considering a 300/2.8 class lens some time instead... As for scopes, in short it depends on what you want one for and budget. But that's probably best for another thread.

Here are some of the comparison shots with this lens on both a 7D and/or the 1D IV Different Gyms with different lighting but both shot with Tv mode, autoISO so more real life than technical comparison :)
