How about one for fun? This image shows my 5 day old 24-70 getting hit with a practice baseball. The players are doing a ball handling drill more like jacky sack than baseball. I'm pretty sure this shot is post hit, and I am pulling away. Ball definitely hit the UV filter as it left a mark.

I hope the lens is still fine...interesting shot!

The lens is fine. I'm not sure if the pod took the initial hit. I am always afraid the UV filter will break and crush broken glass into the front element in a hit like this, but that did not happen.

It's pretty funny but I had wanted to buy a used 24-70 V1 for sports knowing there could be some rough and tumble, but the rebate on VII convinced me that was the way to go. Still glad I have it, but this was a little scary.

The drill they are doing is interesting. The ball is a full size baseball, but harder, a little like a cricket ball. They even had small gloves for the drill as well. This is in the Puerto Rico Winter League, sort of off season triple A.

Really nice work! Love the first one, the fireman looking at the camera and the blurred water and colors along with the light makes for a great image!

Thanks. I was returning from a jog in the park and came across the fire in its early stages. I helped evacuate people in the next door building. (A lot of yelling "It's not a false alarm! get the #$%^! out!) Then turned to photography. For some strange reason I took only my 5DIII and 24-70II, leaving a 7D, 8-15, 70-200 II and 580II in my camera bag in the car... (adrenalin). So I photographed a fire for 2+ hours in jogging clothing with only my camera in hand.
