There is a huge gap between the 50 1.8 and 50 1.4.Great to have a cheap RF f1.2 lens but I am struggling to understand canon’s market segmentation for it.

I would keep the 50 mm f1.4 VCM. It is a L series lens.
And there is a huge gap between 45 1.2 and 50 1.2/1.4 but also 1.8 if you think about itThere is a huge gap between the 50 1.8 and 50 1.4.
And yet this body if the EVF is better than the one of the R6 MK2 appeal me way more than R6 MK2 and R5 MK2. For those that feel like 24mp is not enough and don't have budget for R5 MK2 or don't want to go to 45mp it's a sweet spot.To be honest I’m not exited for any new body of Canon. The existing ones are really awesome and it’s for everyone a choise possible at the existing ones. If there is not a hughe new technical step I don’t understand why they bring out every 2nd year a new version.
They would do better on working on the lens pool because I’m sure more waiting on specific lenses than a new body.
Sometimes I can’t really understand how Canon acts. Closing the gap at lenses to the competitors would be a smarter move in my opinion.
The odds of keeping it are actually very high. I love this lens, but with a 45mm F1.2 (even non-L) at a third of the price, my conscience tells me I must consider switchingI would keep the 50 mm f1.4 VCM. It is a L series lens.
An inexpensive 1.2 lens is appealing, and everyone has a different need / perspective on lenses. For me the 24, 35, 50 mm f1.4 VCM combo is a great travel / street photography set of lenses. The odds of keeping it are actually very high. I´m not buying the 35mm/ 85mm F1.4 L VCM lenses because I´m (very) happy with the respective 1.8/ 2 lenses. So, the question comes up: could I be happy with the 45mm STM?
The R6 III will likely not be a stacked sensor so I doubt it readout speed will equal that of the R5 MkII.What a spec: 40fps, 32MP, OpenGate, PreCapture
Could replace both my R5ii and R3, if AF is top notch, tropicalisation, grip available, ergonomically at least as good as R5ii, DynamicRange and Noise between R5ii and R3, rolling shutter as fast as R5ii, panning assist, ultra high speed burst as per R3 (even R1 does'n have it). OK my dream is a baby R3 with today tech.
Or please Canon
- release an R3ii with such specs, or at least propose a R3 firmware with PreCapture (I am (as many) ready to pay for it).
- implement OpenGate on R5ii
That´s true! At the moment, my perspective is from a financial pov and I am being price cautious because we're moving in December and starting December there'll be three of us in the new apartmentAn inexpensive 1.2 lens is appealing, and everyone has a different need / perspective on lenses. Hold up, another 50mm (-ish) RF lens, and still without IS?
I think it's cause they're still paying catch-up with Sony who had plenty of time to flood the market with full frames. People are still buying A7III and A7RIV which right now sit in a very competitive price range, while they already have discounted successors. The R6II is going to be the first camera that's really a step ahead of Sony (unless they put the earlier rumored 44 MP sensor).I don’t understand why they bring out every 2nd year a new version.

I agree, the current R5II or even R6II is more that i will ever need. But they probably have to follow competition. I am little surprised that we are getting the 3rd R6 in 5 years. To be honest I’m not exited for any new body of Canon. 2.899 € probably includes VAT as prices in Europe are usually stated with VAT´s included. If it is a German price, subtracting VAT would leave it at 2.436€ which equals 2.818 $ (1€ - 1,1569 $).If the price is in fact €2899 that is about $3,350 USD and a 35% increase from the launch price of the R6 and R6 Mark II. Not sure that will be worth it to me. It is just $550 USD more for the C50 or back down to the R6 II and save $1,250 USD.
TIL the lens stabilization is built into my EOS RIt's built into the camera.
